Giveth governance circle M E E T I N G

KayKay Sat 5 Jan 2019 1:44PMPublicSeen by 186

New informational resources about decentralized governance, as well as new tools, are being discovered by Unicorns constantly. We should hold a governance circle meeting as a place for discussing new governance experiments, mechanics that could be forked off other projects and tools to complement our ever-evolving set of software for distributed teamwork.

This is highlighted by our newest members, who seem very interested in the topic.

I want to run two decisions by you to kick off the meeting to set the time and build an agenda.

0 - ok weird it only lets you add an option after you voted once
0 - Strategy Meeting

see the reasoning I wrote down in the thread - personally find this a pretty important one, it's why we're rewriting site & wiki the way we are doing right now - to bring clarity & focus for ourselves and for the outside world.
Edit - adapted vote slightly, good point by Josh, we don't know yet what this meeting will be, so giving some points to the current majority 馃檪

@krisd i see how strongly you are holding onto this from your role in comms. Interestingly you are going against the advice process to keep pushing this so strong. To ignore the reasoned-out perspective of a governance person and mess up names of the work they hold wisdom on and are affected by is pretty against advice process... not sure if you realized what you are doing so perhaps it helps that i point it out here :)

Hey loie, how can I go against the advice process by giving advice from my role? And what reasoned out perspective am I ignoring? I thought that was exactly what I was doing, providing reasoning on why. Does taking the time to explain why I find this important mean that I'm pushing something too strongly? Also don't understand what you mean with 'mess up names of the work they hold wisdom on', as the name Kay started out was actually gov circle meeting.

I like this idea - best to try it out and see it evolve in terms of frequency, naming etc. To be honest, depending on how broadly it goes, this may not be that different from what I was thinking in terms of the 'events' since I was ultimately seeing this as a place to share and learn, and discuss as well.

ranked choice by Michael Roberts Closed Thu 17 Jan 2019 4:01AM

The event is part of a series of informal learning events at Giveth that are designed to be fun, optional, and informative where anyone at Giveth can propose a topic or speaker. The speaker could be someone from Giveth as well with knowledge to share. In this case the CEO of Mozilla Foundation (essentially they promote open source and the open web) is coming to chat with us. In preparation, if you have questions or topics you would like to see addressed please add them below and we can rank them as a group in terms of what we most want to get out of this chat.

I'm interested in the scaling of their org and how they are seeing the world of blockchain.
