Use @mention when inviting people to participate in a group
At the moment we are forced to use people's email addresses to invite them. Server side, these emails are checked against existing email accounts and if they are found, the person is added to the group. If they are not found, they are sent an email. As it is currently impossible to discover user emails, I propose an additional field that will allow inviting with the @mention technique.
Can you recommend a way to backport it to beta?
Well, it's not a pull request we'd probably accept, since it would require design and retranslation and such, but you could have a look at invite_form.rb, specifically something like:
def members_to_add
users_recognised_by_email + users_recognised_by_mention
end
def users_recognised_by_mention
User.where(username: parsed_emails)
end
Well, after a quick trial & fail (i bet because of the way in which emails get parsed i.e. @mention is not a valid email and therefore fails regex) I took a deeper look and wondered why I can't import from loomio...
Maybe it would be nice in this general context to also to have a "usermap" like a sitemap where you can see all of the members of all of the groups in which you participate and THEN populate your invites from people out of your range of "loomio reach".
You'll be happy to hear this is not only in the plans for Loomio 1.0, it's already functional in the angular interface.
