August 2026 Meeting

At our Meet the Greens last night, we discussed doing a hybrid meeting so those who want to gather in person while remaining accessible to this who can’t for whatever reason. This meeting would be outside of the next Meet the Greens which we aligned on doing monthly for newcomers.
I’m assuming we don’t have budget for this so I would like to propose the library. I believe downtown branch would be closest for all but I’m not sure how far out their free rooms book.
I’d also like to propose that we include time for socialization after the meeting so we can get to know each other better.
Really looking forward to meeting other Greens in the area and growing what will hopefully be an official chapter in the future!

Okay I know I am talking to just myself at this point but we could also consider a weekend picnic in the park style meeting which might be nice for August? (Or disgustingly hot and we should wait until September for an outdoor thing?)
Would love to do something that feels a little fun to attract more folks… maybe this is actually a Meet the Greens social idea.

I love the idea of meeting in the park as well as a meeting at the library! My thoughts are that the library might be logistically a bit easier to simultaneously run a virtual option via zoom, but I could also see that working at the park, too, if I were to bring a folding table to set up with. I like both ideas, though! What do we think about the 3rd week in August for a meeting? I am also happy to promote this on socials - we could do a poll for feedback on when/where folks would like to meet up!

@Alli I think the library will be fine for an August meeting. I'd love to get into a rhythm with these on my calendar. Second Tuesday at 7pm or something like that--perhaps we should keep that as our "Meet the Greens" slot, though! I can take a look at room availability again and propose some dates and times.
From my perspective we have a few different types of meetings we could be doing monthly: Meet the Greens, regular group meetings for existing membership, and socials. I think the park idea could be great for a social and open to both existing members and interested parties.

I love this idea! I think second Tuesdays at 7pm, hybrid meetup at the library is a great rhythm, and then for socials, the park sounds awesome for summer, perhaps we can explore weekend or late afternoons a an option. Could having a regular GP SW WA mtg on the second Tuesdays at 8pm be an option? Since our Meet the Greens/Orientation is around 45 mins or so...thoughts?

Are we all in favor of setting a regular, recurring meeting for "Meet the Greens" Orientation meeting on Second Tuesdays* at 7pm, followed by member organizer meeting at 8pm? I'd like to prepare a post with this info soon(ish)!
EDIT: @Joerg Rings Is not available on Tuesdays & Wednesdays - would we be able to propose meeting *Wednesday evenings instead? Perhaps every 2nd Wednesday?

@KarissaMHP (she/her) I will go ahead and plan to promote another "Meet the Greens" for next week, Wednesday Aug 12th, at 7pm, followed by an organizer meeting at 7:30pm as discussed with @Brandi earlier :)

I checked the library site and there are meeting rooms available most evenings in August until 7:30 pm, Mondays through Thursdays.
The library needs to approve the reservation which could take up to a week. I
Do we want to do another Tuesday evening or try another night? 6pm?
As a note, FVRL recommends adding 30 minutes to the reservation for resetting and cleaning the room. So maybe we say 6-7 for the meeting but reserve the room from 5:30-7:30.
