QUESTIONS for the site (not an AP)

FE Fran Ellis Public Seen by 40

This is a thread to gather questions Crews and Dreamers may have for the site. Comment them here and we'll either email the site or ask during a site visit, if we manage to arrange another one.

Hey guys, request to join this Camps subgroup and you'll find a list of spaces + what's in them (gas hobs, wood burners etc.) There are photos too! https://www.loomio.org/northern-regional-celtic-burn-camps/

How far is it from the overflow car parking (lay-by/forestry commission car park)?

Are those both free parking? how many spaces?

Is it ok to leave cars there overnight? I ask as in some FLS (Forestry Land Scotland) car parks this isn't allowed.

[EDIT]Sorry Fran, I see you've already asked this up the page. I should reread before posting.

Is there an inventory for the sites furniture/possessions? Is there anything contractual we would be liable for in the event of loss/breakages and what is the protocol for this outside of fair usage?

Hello, received responses from the site already!

Site visit

Q. Is there any possibility we could arrange another site visit, perhaps the first or last weekend of February?

A. Sorry we're going to be away over that time so better to leave it until March

Parking

Q. What is the absolute maximum number of spaces for van and/or car parking on site? As we have more humans than beds, we expect quite a lot of people to be bringing vans/live-in vehicles

A. Cars would be 32 in the parking area down here. Vans would depend on how many and what size they are

Q. Are there any dead-end roads on-site that we could use to increase van space?

A. Sorry no

Q. We wonder if we could potentially park all cars off-site and use all parking space on-stie for vans. Would this be ok with you?

A. That's fine

Q. If we park all cars off-site, is the Forestry Commission car park our best/only option?

A. It's the only option

Q. Do you have their contact details per chance, as we are wondering if we could pay upfront for the full duration, rather than having to return to pay again every day

A. Would prefer to speak to you on the phone over this issue

Q. We are also wondering if there are 'no overnight parking' signs there, how much it costs, and how far away it is?

A. Would have to go down and check the machine and signage - it's a mile away from here

Camping space

Q. Is camping restricted to the 'camping area' on the map? It doesn't look too large so we're wondering if tents can also be put up elsewhere on-site?

A. The camping area can hold about 30 small tents but that depends on the number and size of vans up there. You can put a few tents up by the Roundhouse

Wednesday

Q. If I remember correctly, we have booked 1-2 yurts on the Wednesday night.

A. You have the 2 deluxe yurts booked

Q. Could some people also arrive in vans/tents Wednesday to help with set-up?

A. We charge £10pppn for vans and tents

Q. If so, what's the maximum number of people we could bring on Weds

A. Providing they can fit in the camping area there would not be a problem with numbers

Q. and what is the earliest time could we arrive from?

A. It would depend on bookings we had the night before - at the moment we don't have anyone so there would not be any restrictions

Fires/wood

Q. Do we need to provide our own firewood for the sauna/hot tub/wood burners?

A. We provide it

Q. Are there any restrictions on fires and camping stoves in the camping area?

A. We only allow fires in the actual firepits and then fires are only allowed if weather conditions allow ie if we have a drought and we are on fire watch from the Forestry Commission then unfortunately there can be no fires or charcoal BBQs anywhere other than where under the BBQ shelter

Q. We usually burn a wooden sculpture or 2 at the end of the event (we call these the 'effigy' and 'temple'). We wondered if there are any restrictions on this?

A. This would need to be discussed with X when you visit in March

Q. Would we need to burn them at the existing firepit and if so, what is the size?

A. no answer - see above

Q. If not, would you mind a burn scar or could we potentially cut and re-lay grass?

A. Definitely no fires apart from in the fire pits

Q. Are there fire extinguishers on-site or would we need to bring our own?

A. We have extinguishers but feel free to bring some more !

Pre-event deliveries

Q. If we need to, could we arrange to get things delivered to the site just before the event, if we arrange it with you first?

A. Yes no problem

Dogs

Q. Are dogs allowed to come?

A. We welcome well-behaved dogs with responsible owners (or vice versa!!)

So it seems an effigy may not be feasible, or at least not what I have been planning….

Could it be possible to put together a massive fire pit with bricks? 🤔
