I agree 100%. I don't know what we can use, but I guess there's a plug in for this (let's ask around!)

Stacco Troncoso Fri 15 Jul 2016 6:58PM
Additionally, we need a short, one paragraph bio for the ECA. I haven't found anything really suitable within the website. @davidhammerstein @everyone can you hash something out?

Stacco Troncoso Mon 18 Jul 2016 9:26AM
Hello folks,
The post goes out tomorrow. Any news on that short bio? Thanks!

Call for a European Commons Assembly

Dimitris Koukoulakis Tue 19 Jul 2016 1:02PM

Gaelle Wed 20 Jul 2016 10:56AM
Hi all,
It's taking shape, it's exciting! And nice to discover Loomio! (Sorry that I didn't join sooner by the way…)
But on key identity issue for the European Commons Assembly we should bring the discuss to the mailing list. For instance the issue of a logo, as it was the case of the name, should be discused with everybody because it's an important aspect of the creation of a collective identity. Don't you think ?
Gaelle

sophie Sat 23 Jul 2016 12:17PM
Hi all,
I just only discovered all these conversations taking place on loomio! :)
I agree with Gaelle, we should agree on a logo in a participatory way, like we did with the name. Maybe we can have a few proposals and vote on them, on the general mailing list?
I don't know where the current logo came from, but I think it would be good to take it of for now and agree on one before we add it.
What do others think? Cheers, Sophie
Maïa Dereva Sat 23 Jul 2016 1:15PM
Hi :sun_with_face:
The actual proposed one come from France : http://assembleedescommuns.org/ (in http://lescommuns.org/ )
If it can help, I can ask the graphic artist who created this one to propose several different logos?

sophie Sat 23 Jul 2016 1:28PM
Hello! ah ok I see. Yes that could be a good idea to ask that graphic artist. Also, we could just ask on the list if people have suggestions, collect a few and then have vote.
Maïa Dereva Sat 23 Jul 2016 1:31PM
Great, and maybe it's important to copy/paste here what I wrote on the "Web tools" topic : "everything is a draft on this site and should be discussed and modified."
"I proposed this draft with the idea of Agile software development principles : Quickly realize something operational, and then improve it. So now the work really begins."

Gaelle Sat 23 Jul 2016 4:30PM
Hi,
Do you want to launch the discussion Maïa on the mailing list?
commonswatch@lists.p2pfoundation.net
That's the list we created after the meeting in Villarceaux for this group.
Gaëlle
ann marie Fri 16 Sep 2016 12:26PM
Hi everyone, I've put together a first draft press release, I'm not sure if there's a logo available for it. Also there are some comments, please anyone who can spare a moment, have a look and give your opinion. The text is largely picked up and reworked from other existing sources, so it's consistent but also quite short and to the point. Let me know what you think. Also, Sophie @sophie40 suggested maybe we wait to release it until Tuesday Sept. 20
Here is the link to the g-doc

Nicole Leonard Fri 16 Sep 2016 1:59PM
Great Ann-Marie thanks it looks good, I will add a few comments by the end of the day.

Poll Created Fri 16 Sep 2016 3:51PM
Decide Twitter handle Closed Tue 20 Sep 2016 10:02AM
It's @CommonsAssembly
Event is #EUCommons and its generally good practice to put:
#commons on just about everything ;)
Tricky because "European Commons Assembly" is so long.
I tried EuroCommonsAsse, but it appears "EuroCommonsAss..." so I'm not too pleased.
I propose:
EuroCommons
Please bring other proposals, under 14 characters!

The "EuroCommonsAss" is hilarious! Anyway, I think that #CommonsEU is more concise.

sophie Fri 16 Sep 2016 4:40PM
We suggested #COMMONSEU earlier

Ruby van der Wekken Fri 16 Sep 2016 6:42PM
Hilarious indeed! :)
#CommonsEU sounds good
Pity cant get assembly word in

Gaelle Sat 17 Sep 2016 7:49AM
"EuroCommonsAss" is too good to be true.
I am not a big fan of CommonsEU because it's "EU" as in European institutions. Not Europe.
what about #CommonsEurope
Or #EuroCommons

Nicole Leonard Mon 19 Sep 2016 7:39AM
Hi guys.. I agree with Gaelle's comment that CommonsEU is a bit too institutionally focused. I like @EuroCommons. or @CommonsEurope.. and I think there is some confusion, I'm talking about the handle aka the account name, not the hashtag.

Gaelle Mon 19 Sep 2016 9:16AM
how do we vote ?

Nicole Leonard Mon 19 Sep 2016 9:27AM
It seems there is no poll functionality in Loomio :(
I think we should keep chatting here, then I will post another proposal with what appears to be the top choice for tomorrow to get confirmation. I think @EuroCommons is best because it keeps the order of the words of European Commons Assembly and might be more functional/easier to find on Twitter... but CommonsEurope is maybe more powerful. Waiting for some more input from others!

Stacco Troncoso Mon 19 Sep 2016 9:41AM
Out of #EuroCommons and #CommonsEurope I prefer the latter.

sophie Mon 19 Sep 2016 9:47AM
Me too! #commonseurope

Nicole Leonard Mon 19 Sep 2016 9:53AM
Ok, great thanks, so @CommonsEurope
I can't stress this enough, it's a handle, a username to identify the ECA, not a hashtag.

Stacco Troncoso Mon 19 Sep 2016 10:07AM
Couldn't it be both, or do you want a unique hashtag for the event?

Nicole Leonard Mon 19 Sep 2016 9:54AM
Oh bummer, CommonsEurope is already taken.

Gaelle Mon 19 Sep 2016 10:17AM
well, then…
@EuroCommons
can we know who it is who took it?

Ruby van der Wekken Mon 19 Sep 2016 10:26AM
Too bad CommonsEurope taken agree that is the best. Rather not Euro .. but if no other choice?

Nicole Leonard Mon 19 Sep 2016 10:33AM

sophie Mon 19 Sep 2016 10:40AM
Hi so sorry yest I thought we were discussing #
What about EuropanCommonsAssembly? if its a handle it can bea abit longer right ? the
shoud be short

sophie Mon 19 Sep 2016 10:40AM
Maybe we should have #commonseurope
and handle EuropeanCommonsAssembly ?

Nicole Leonard Mon 19 Sep 2016 10:53AM
Handle (@) has to be under 14 characters! I have eurocommons for now (can be changed, as long as what we want isn't already taken): https://twitter.com/EuroCommons
As for the hashtags, #commonsEU has never been used.
There is some previous activity on #EUcommons and #commonseurope, but not too much. Could be good to join into previous movements.
There's never been anything for #europeancommonsassembly
Keep in mind we can put multiple hashtags on our posts, but it's strong to choose one main one

Nicole Leonard Mon 19 Sep 2016 2:57PM
Alright guys! Handle is @CommonsAssembly ! I think this is best and we can reference Europe in the description: https://twitter.com/CommonsAssembly
In the call last Monday we decided the hashtag for the event will be #EUCommons. If there is strong opposition we can consider a different one, like #commonseurope.

Stacco Troncoso Mon 19 Sep 2016 3:40PM
I can live with that! No, seriously, I think that the handle and hashtags are a good solution.

Nicole Leonard Wed 21 Sep 2016 11:15AM
Summary:
-Media call tomorrow starting between 11am and 1pm (to be announced shortly, please fill out doodle if you haven't yet): http://doodle.com/poll/x65cfih6atwahvkukunyg8u9/admin#table
-I started a new draft of the press release in blue on the doc and would like others to chime in ASAP
-Website's coming along and we now have a Twitter (@Commons Assembly) and a youtube channel with the video online (European Commons Assembly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqxV0cd27B0 )
- WE NEED more translations of the call! @sophie do you know where the Bulgarian and the other language (not French) versions are?
Cheers
Nicole

david should have the spanish one

Stacco Troncoso Thu 22 Sep 2016 7:34AM
@nicoleleonard @sophie40 @davidhammerstein Here's the final copyedited version of David's Spanish translation.

Nicole Leonard Thu 22 Sep 2016 8:58AM
@maiadereva can you get this online?
ps. there is a comms call happening now on skype, I'm nicoleleonard92 if anyone is around to join.

Nicole Leonard Thu 22 Sep 2016 3:56PM
Hi everyone:
So following the phone call this morning I drafted a new press release that focuses more on introducing the call: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1k9Tv-IlyElBqWVTHzXIadU7Jzj6BebFH817qC9EmxaY/edit
It could also double as its own post, to accompany the publication of the call. As is, it is written as if it is targeted for a general educated audience. We might want something different to circulate in our networks, that talks more specifically about who we are. Please add your comments!
We will do another press release version later for the event itself that is more timely.

Nicole Leonard Fri 23 Sep 2016 1:42PM
Re September 26 Joint Publication of Call:
There are 2 elements to this strategy. Both need to include the link to sign the Call which will be finished over the weekend.
FIRST ELEMENT = THE CALL: The idea is that, for example, European Alternatives publishes the complete text of the Call on their website, with a link that is still to be determined that I will send out latest very early on Monday morning.
SECOND ELEMENT = press release article with more context called “On the rise: European Commons Assembly” also with the link that is to be determined. This can be 1) circulated to journalists 2) circulated on discussion lists 3) hosted in addition to the call.
Conclusion: European Alternatives can, in addition to publishing the Call on their site, also circulate “On the rise” with the link to their journalists and on their discussion lists.

''hello,
My name is Nuno Pedrosa and I am currently creating a website for the European Parliaments' Working Group on Common Goods.
I would like to insert a banner on our homepage about the Commons Assembly.
Is it possibly for you to send me our logo? (preferably in eps format).
I don't know if you have a poster as well but if so it would also be usefull.
Thank you very much.''

Nicole Leonard Thu 29 Sep 2016 9:23AM
logo (it's very small! I've been saying to @maiadereva it would be good to get another higher res version).

Nicole Leonard Thu 29 Sep 2016 9:36AM
Adding a "Get Involved" page on the site*
@javierarturorodrig @maiadereva @t
We need to have a page with directions on how to get involved in the ECA. So far people can sign the call but then they are still alienated from the process.
We now have different categories of involvement/subscription which have some but do not always overlap and need to be sorted out to avoid confusion:
1) the main commonswatch list subscribers
2) signatories to the call
3) loomio members/core group (where we are trying to form smaller working groups)
4) people that will come to Brussels (of which there are further sub-categories...)
How can we "rationalize" this process? One proposal is that we present site visitors with the following options (but I'm open to other possibilities!):
HOW TO GET INVOLVED IN THE ECA (aka the network/group itself)
1) Join the list: commonswatch for updates on the whole process
2) To go deeper, join on loomio. From there you can join in on working groups. There is currently a lot of activity for organizing the event in Brussels, but there are longer term needs as well...
Soon we also need a sort of:
HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN BRUSSELS
1) Follow steps above...
2) See the program and description "here" (not finalized yet) and email contact@europeancommonsassembly to see where you can be involved....
We don't have a formal "registration list" for Brussels yet, but we need a system for keeping track. We don't want to accidentally promise people that they can attend the EP event, but we do want to welcome them to the outside assembly and offer them to meet local Brussels groups.
*I will work more on this second part when I get back on Wednesday, but it's good to keep in mind. If you guys could cover the first part "How to get involved in the ECA", that would be great :)
I will send a big summary of our meetings yesterday in Brussels on the list soon
<3

Creating a page is easy, maybe I wait for a document with the exact content to put in it?

Nicole Leonard Thu 29 Sep 2016 1:46PM
Sure thing. I'm leaving though for a few days without computer so I'm on my phone. Can someone just work of the points I put to create the final text with links (just for the first part- on how to get involved in the assembly- 2 points). It should be pretty easy.
Thanks
Nicole

Dimitris Koukoulakis Mon 3 Oct 2016 3:37PM
Would it make sense to anyone to try and organise local assemblies in order to inform people about the process and also discuss and gather demands, feedback, comments and anything else that they might want to be mentioned in the main event?
I am thinking of doing such a gathering here in Heraklion and I was wondering if others like the idea we could host several such events in the same time across EU cities. Could be 2 weeks before, 2nd of November. What do you think?

Nicole Leonard Wed 5 Oct 2016 9:24AM
Please see a new thread I started about this in "Political Propositions Process working group"
Maïa Dereva Mon 3 Oct 2016 8:36PM
Good idea @dimitriskoukou , I will propose a workshop about ECA at the next Commons Assembly in Lille (North of France) which takes place on the 28th of october.

sophie Fri 11 Nov 2016 9:18AM
Hi everyone, just to give an update on communications from my side:
An article on the Assembly has been written by Marta Cillero for Open Democracy, we expect them to also publish one by me and Till.

sophie Fri 11 Nov 2016 9:20AM
Also, we have received additional support from the Lunt Foundation for audiovisual communications work. Zemos is now coming to the assembly with a team to film and will produce several short videos prior to the event (this weekend !) and afterwards
They will also take care of the visuals on the screen during the event

sophie Fri 11 Nov 2016 9:22AM
In september we worked on a press release, we then published one, and said to publish another one closer to the assembly. I think it would be good if we can dig that one up and finalise it so we can send it out on Monday. Does anyone have the link to the google doc?

Stacco Troncoso Mon 14 Nov 2016 10:18AM
Hi folks, here's the latest blog post on the P2PF blog: “A Gathering of Commoners” Full program for the European Commons Assembly. It contains the first of two videos edited by @lucastello and the ZEMOS team and the latest program. Please share!

New ECA article by Sophie Jerram published on Commons Transition:
SOLIDARITY IN BRUSSELS: THE VOICES OF THE EUROPEAN COMMONS ASSEMBLY
These are people who have stopped waiting for permission, who are passionate about their local and global environments; people who generate more than they extract; are living their lives for the sake of the whole; who are affective labourers
Please share in your networks!

Hi all, I am Cecile from the Commons Network. I have taken over a part of the planning for the communication & outreach strategy. I used some older files and build an outlook regarding the dissemination of our material (blogs, videos, etc...) within the commons community and outside. Please have a look at the document and provide comments or modifications by next Wednesday (December 21).
You can either correct directly on the hackpad: https://europeancommonsassembly.hackpad.com/Communication-plan-to-follow-up-on-ECA-a0ZIAhwMap7
or comment and modify as track-changes on the .doc attached (the same).
Looking forward to reading your thoughts!

To all: I would like to propose two slots, according to the doodle for a short meeting on communication strategy: Wednesday 11/01 at 11:30 or Friday 13/01 at 11:00.
Let me know what works best for you and please send me your skype login details at cecile.blanchet@posteo.de. Thanks! If it does not work, I'll just communicate bilaterally with people.
Best, Cecile
ann marie Tue 10 Jan 2017 3:49PM
Hello @cecileblanchet - tomorrow (Wednesday) won't be convenient at this point (too much is piled up!) but Friday morning is fine. Who might participate? I don't see much action on the Doodle, keep me posted if we're going ahead with the call ok?

Cecile Blanchet Tue 10 Jan 2017 7:18PM
Dear @annmarie , thanks for your answer. I also noticed that there was very little activity on the doodle... However it would be great for me to get in touch with people who were/are/will be involved in the communication to get to know each other and coordinate. So I would like to propose to have a skype call on Friday at 11:30. It should not be very long. My skype contact is cecilb2000. In the mean time, I will contact the Zemos team to see with them how far they are with the videos. Does that sound ok?
Thanks and a good evening, Cecile
ann marie Tue 10 Jan 2017 7:29PM
OK, we can have a short "hello" on Friday, I'm happy with that! Let me know anytime before then if there are any changes to the plan.

Thanks very much, we'll speak soon.

Cecile Blanchet Tue 10 Jan 2017 7:31PM

sophie Thu 26 Jan 2017 12:02PM
yes I agree, would be good to link to the overview p2p made. It looks so good !

Cecile Blanchet Fri 20 Jan 2017 12:57PM
Dear all,
We’ve had our skype call this morning and here are my notes, with decisions taken (which can still be modified and discussed!) and the action items:
https://europeancommonsassembly.hackpad.com/Summary-of-discussion-on-Comms-Strategy-20170120-W5vQ4yw4xql
It’s also linked on the communication strategy Hackpad (https://europeancommonsassembly.hackpad.com/Communication-plan-to-follow-up-on-ECA-a0ZIAhwMap7).
Please feel free to comment on it, were you present or not, and propose alternative solutions. But just please keep in mind that a lot needs to happen and that our time is limited.
Don’t hesitate to get in touch with me should you have questions or suggestions.

Cecile Blanchet Fri 20 Jan 2017 2:04PM
Update on the website: Maïa and me just skyped to see what we can do on the website with regard to publishing the videos.
We will follow 3 lines of action:
1/ because time is scarce before the release of the videos, we will use the present website but modify it, i.e. archive the material for the Brussels meeting (accommodation and so forth) and replace it in the menu by "Videos" + change the landing page to put the introductory text for the videos (TBD) and images and links to the videos (or the videos themselves).
2/ Look at Nicole's notes and possible themes from Ann Marie to start design a new website, more accessible to all contributors
3/ if point 2 is no doable, we will investigate the possibilities of getting funding to have a website designed by a professional web developer.
Let me know if you have any suggestions or comments.
Best, Cecile

Nicole Leonard Fri 20 Jan 2017 6:01PM
So, I looked for my notes and unfortunately I think they were left in California :/ However, I was able to dig this up from my conversation with @sophie40. Each * is a subheading...:
Videos on front page
- Process ——>> Activities
Explanation on how it works what is happening.
How to participate in different activities .
- Positions & Proposals
for example Energy
plus video
1st Assembly meeting
calendar & events around Europe

Nicole Leonard Fri 20 Jan 2017 6:03PM
And once @lucastello uploads the videos, we can start organizing for the video blast on the 30th!
ann marie Mon 23 Jan 2017 4:03PM
Hello everyone! Hope you all had a good weekend. Well, I was wrong about something, call it "old age creeping in" but I'd forgotten that any of the WordPress themes that we've used in the last few years in fact didn't work very easily straight "out of the box", they all required some time investment in identifying what and how to adapt and optimize. Still seems, in that case, that it would be wise to get a tech person and/or designer on board to help sort it out in as short a time as possible. We could get our P2P tech person Javier and our designer Elena involved if we can offer them a time frame and a budget that works - let me know you if you want to explore that.

Cecile Blanchet Wed 25 Jan 2017 10:58AM
Thanks Ann Marie for your update! We should discuss the option you propose with all on skype, but I suggest that we first deal with the release of the videos and I will then send a doodle to find a date. Does that sound reasonable?
@all: We agreed with Maïa that she will use the existing website for the moment to release the videos. It has already been modified but please, send us your suggestions as soon as possible. Thanks!

Cecile Blanchet Wed 25 Jan 2017 2:35PM
Dear all, I wanted to give you an update on the video releases. As I won't be available in the coming days, I would like to push the release of all videos to Wednesday, February 1rst if it is fine with you.
The weekly highlights schedule has also changed and will be in the following order:
1. All + Introduction ECA video - Feb. 01
2. Food commons - Feb. 08
3. City commons - Feb. 15
4. Energy commons - Feb. 22
5. Diem real talk - Mar. 01
The process is to put all videos on Feb. 1rst on the website, in the "Video" part (accessible from the menu) and the Introduction video embedded on the front/home page, with a little accompanying text. (@maiadereva : I will contact you separately for the website modifications I gathered).
I will contact all interviewees from the videos to ask them to draft a little summary (1/2 A4) with some links. This material will be accessible to all on a hackpad, so that it can be used on the ECA website, but also on the P2P foundation blog and on the Commons Network website (and to all who want to advertise the videos).
@nicoleleonard will contact people working on policy proposals to try to get some of them ready so that we can link the video to the wiki of the commons transition, as proposed by @annmarie last week. It would be great if you could decide on a format to publish the most advanced proposals.
If you have any objection to this plan, please let me know!

Stacco Troncoso Wed 25 Jan 2017 8:12PM
Perfectly understood. Thanks @cecileblanchet!

sophie Thu 26 Jan 2017 12:01PM
hi all, what about the pictures? https://www.flickr.com/photos/146782260@N04/
Should we not do something with these as well? I know we wanted to tag them all, but seems that would be unlikely to happen unless we find a way of crowdsourcing that effort.
In any case, would be cool if these could feature somewhere somehow. Ideas? @staccotroncoso @lucastello @ all :)

Stacco Troncoso Thu 26 Jan 2017 3:08PM
Hi gang. So two things: @cecileblanchet @maiadereva let's add @nicoleleonard's suggestion to hyperlink to the P2PF blog ECA user from the ECA site. Perhaps as a simple pulldown.
@sophie40 Something we can do is to embed the Flickr album. I did it while formatting this article (scroll to the second image). You can then scroll through all the images from the album.
If this isn't clear, I'll do a quick mock up to share.

Cecile Blanchet Thu 26 Jan 2017 8:25PM
Hi there! Great to see the ideas bubbling! I agree: would be great to put a Flickr gallery on the website (@staccotroncoso looks nice indeed). I guess there could be a gallery on the landing (home) page of the website when we put the first video online. Additionally, I have asked @maiadereva to make a new page "First meeting in Brussels" where the gallery would come in nicely as well.
I'll take that to the other threat on the website web tools.
About linking to the p2p ECA overview, I have nothing against. I just don't see where it should come. Any suggestions?

Cecile Blanchet Thu 26 Jan 2017 9:02PM
Forgot to mention: Friso of ECF mentioned that they will also publish the videos on their website (Connected action for the commons) and their social media channels + partners. Very happy about that! He also proposed the concept "Wednesday Commonsday" and I think we could use it for our series (as hashtag?). What do you think? Or other ideas in the same vein?

Lucas Tello Fri 27 Jan 2017 7:47PM
Hi friends,
We just finished uploading the videos to the Youtube account (hidden, so only accesible if you are logged to the account or receive the link) and a folder:
https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/0B2dYqsu1inTsaVU3dTFvSGs5S3M
Some things:
- We are launching them on 30th, please don't share them till then. I think we didn't set an official hour, or did we?
- The videos in the Youtube account need proper tagging and maybe naming to make them (even) more sexy.
- I am uploading during the weekend the raw interviews with all of the participants.
- We titled all the names we have on the DiEM25 - commoners chat, but there are a couple of them still missing. If the names are reclaimed these days, we can make the changes and upload it again.
Have a good weekend!

Cecile Blanchet Sun 29 Jan 2017 12:00PM
Hi @lucastello ! Thanks a lot for uploading the videos! They are really good :) Concerning your points:
Please note that the release will actually be on Wednesday, February 1 (not on Monday as initially planned). I have given an updated calendar for all videos earlier, ypu can see it by scrolling up on this thread.
We need tags for the Youtube videos: do I understand right that we need keywords? If it is so, I suggest that we collect a bunch of tags and quotes to be used as hashtags (along with #eucommons and #commonsassembly) for our campaign. I'll set up a Hackpad and post the link here.
Have a nice Sunday!
Marta Cillero Mon 30 Jan 2017 8:49AM
Hi all!
Thank you @cecileblanchet for preparing the strategy!
From EA we would like to upload the videos directly to our Facebook page since is where our audience watch our videos mostly.
February 1 is the date for the release, but we don't have a precise time, right? (9am, noon...?)
On the photos that @sophie40 was mentioning, we wanted to use them to update our website with the press release. We don't have a common press release for media yet, do we?
thanks!

sophie Mon 30 Jan 2017 9:13AM
Hi, for the pictures: @staccotroncoso you mean we could do that on the assembly website as well? I guess we could just put a link to the flicker page. Although we might want to have a selection ?
They could be embedded in the press release, which @martacillero is indeed not there yet.
I think we could take a few paragraphs from aal the material that is already there.

sophie Mon 30 Jan 2017 9:14AM
Also, it would be good to have links to all the testimonies on the website, right now there is only the one by david& me, But there is the one by SophieJerram, Ivor Stodolsky, Isabel, and another one.

Stacco Troncoso Mon 30 Jan 2017 10:19AM
Hi friends, here are some comments and reactions to questions raised in the last few days:
About linking to the p2p ECA overview, I have nothing against. I just don't see where it should come. Any suggestions?
This would fall under a reevaluation of the top-menu items. Maybe something like “Stories”
He also proposed the concept "Wednesday Commonsday" and I think we could use it for our series (as hashtag?). What do you think? Or other ideas in the same vein?
I think that’s brilliant! Too long for a hashtag though.
The videos in the Youtube account need proper tagging and maybe naming to make them (even) more sexy.
@annmarie and I will take a look and suggest titles. But please also add suggestions here.
We need tags for the Youtube videos: do I understand right that we need keywords?
Yeah, just keywords, not hashtags. We can coordinate with @lucastello for this, but please add suggestions here too so we can reflect them.
Hi, for the pictures: @staccotroncoso you mean we could do that on the assembly website as well?
Yup. Here’s the raw code which has to be dumped into the html editor:
The question, again, is where to put it. We can’t rush UX design as we start adding more sections to the website.
Also, it would be good to have links to all the testimonies on the website, right now there is only the one by david& me, But there is the one by SophieJerram, Ivor Stodolsky, Isabel, and another one.
All the testimonies are here (except the latest one from Ivor, which will be published soon). Porting them to the ECA website is technically simple (just pick up the code). The problem is where to showcase them, whether the present theme can generate an attractive menu etc

sophie Mon 30 Jan 2017 10:33AM
@staccotroncoso ok. Maybe we can have a little box on the front page with the testimonies? And under 'first meeting' Which could actually be renamed ' Assembly in Brussels' to make it more sexy.
But then I don't know if a box is possible.

Stacco Troncoso Mon 30 Jan 2017 10:36AM
Renaming stuff is easy. I don't know what you mean by "little box" though. You mean like a menu with the posts? I don't know if that's possible with the present theme. I've just commented in the Web Tools thread if we could wait a week to have a discussion on website upgrades as I believe that these should be implemented with a gradual, focused plan.

sophie Mon 30 Jan 2017 10:42AM
Right I see what you mean on upgrading the website with plan, that makes sense. But just because the launch of the videos on Wednesday will generate traction on the website I thought it would be good to have all the testimonies there.
With little box :) I meant, just like a text box on the front page next to the short overview of what the Assembly is. I am digitally challenged so not idea if its possible ;) Maybe we can just have in a fat font somewhere: 'testimonies of Assembly members' or something and then it linkt through to the P2P page? But I think its very nice material to get a feel for the assembly.

sophie Mon 30 Jan 2017 10:44AM
Ah now I see the comments above about Stories etc ! Ok. Stories sounds nice.

Cecile Blanchet Mon 30 Jan 2017 11:31AM
Hi all,
So if I sum up for Wednesday, what we need is:
an introductory text for the videos (at least for the first one), which could be used as a press release and used on our partner's websites
hashtags, tagging for youtube, titles, quotes (to be used on twitter)
a time for the media splash: I am not sure how good we can keep the time. I would rather suggest the following: 1) @lucastello makes the videos public and sends us the links (here on loomio), 2) @maiadereva and me prepare the website and 3) @nicoleleonard and/or me send a mail on the commonswatch mailing list with all the links and the material, 4) we start twitting and so forth. Does that sound OK?
an overview of modifications and inserts on the website (only for the media splash -the rest (menus, testimonies, stories...) will be done later. I will make sure that we have links to pictures (although I think we can try to insert a gallery) and the p2p foundation website together with the video. I have made a sketch and I'll post it on the Web tool loomio thread.
Here is a link to a hackpad with some text and tag lists, in short all the material we need for Wednesday. Please have a look and correct, comment, modify, add (etc..): I have done that quickly and I will not have much time today.
https://europeancommonsassembly.hackpad.com/Material-for-media-splash-Wed.-February-01-mPoeVUqBsA5
Best to all!

Nicole Leonard Mon 30 Jan 2017 12:47PM
I'm happy to send the email – but I assume since the email will be dependent on everyone else, it won't go out until Wed. morning (so as to leave enough time to include all the necessary links).
In that case, is it still worth sending another reminder email Tuesday? Can't hurt...

Cecile Blanchet Tue 31 Jan 2017 10:39PM
Sorry Nicole, was totally under these last days and missed your post. You sure can send a reminder if you still have some power tonight but otherwise it's OK tomorrow I guess.

Lucas Tello Tue 31 Jan 2017 7:07PM
Hi everyone,
I am making the videos public now, though they shouldn't be shared until tomorrow morning through the planned channels. Stacco and I wrote the tags, descriptions and names of the videos, even though, if you want to change anything, please go ahead without asking (you all have the login details of the account, if not contact me). So the videos...
- Videosummary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c14Yx3comtY
- Right to the City: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Z6sydAVS6I
- Food as a Common Good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdOh4oEOwJQ
- Energy as a Common Good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zuvF0iMafQg&t=24s
- A Conversation between DiEM25 and Commoners: How to build an alternative together? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJZvz09LVa4
List of complete interviews:
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLVZPtntvYANEqVVII8sfsDM1SZpoAOKsh
I'll be sharing what you publish through zemos networks. Lots of strength and energy for tomorrow, friends.
Frédéric Sultan Tue 31 Jan 2017 8:57PM
Thanks Lucas
I will prepare pages in remix the commons wiki.

Nicole Leonard Tue 31 Jan 2017 10:25PM
Thanks lucas and stacco! It seems the only thing now is to wait until the videos are uploaded by @maiadereva on the main ECA website. Tomorrow morning, once that's done, I'll send a message to the list and we can all start promoting. I'll draft that email now but leave it open for comments.
@cecileblanchet , you and I can coordinate who will tweet etc. through the ECA account

Cecile Blanchet Tue 31 Jan 2017 10:35PM
Hi all, thanks Lucas and Stacco, and everyone for your work! I will try to be early at work tomorrow to finish preparing the text to accompany the video on the ECA website, get a few quotes and pictures ready to tweet. @maiadereva I give you a shout when the text is ready - to all: there is still time to have a look and modify if you like. @nicoleleonard same, I'll let you know when everything is there to be sent by mail.
Talk to you guys tomorrow :)

Nicole Leonard Tue 31 Jan 2017 10:59PM
Hey Cecile, sounds good to me - just fyi I drafted the email at the bottom of your hackpad: https://europeancommonsassembly.hackpad.com/Material-for-media-splash-Wed.-February-01-mPoeVUqBsA5
I just think the accompanying text needs a bit more work.
Maïa Dereva Tue 31 Jan 2017 10:53PM
Hi all :)
I did my best on the homepage, tell me if it's OK.
I'll add the final text tomorrow when it is ready.

Nicole Leonard Tue 31 Jan 2017 11:08PM
Looks good Maia, and I think we could definitely go as is. Some comments though (curious to hear what others think)
-You can only see the videos once you click "start", and even then you have to scroll through large text to get to the first video. I think the videos should be visible immediately when you land on the page.
- Related to this, the accompanying text should be smaller, and perhaps come after the first video. Also, I think the content of the text will change slightly tomorrow morning (right @cecileblanchet ?)
- It's a bit funky how the 4 smaller videos are embedded - because they will play but they're very small (less important)
OK, that's it for now! I think we're in good shape.

Cecile Blanchet Wed 1 Feb 2017 8:37AM
Hi all, Thanks @maiadereva : it's looks already very good! Well done :) I agree with @nicoleleonard's comments:
The Video should come right after the title and the text after the video
The text has changed (and the title too). I have made a "cleaner" version of the hackpad for the material (which can be distributed to all via the email) and where you can find the final text @maiadereva : https://europeancommonsassembly.hackpad.com/Material-for-the-ECA-media-splash-izQBdmlArpd
I am not troubled by the "Start" but we can definitely remove, no worries
I also don't mind the small videos although we could put them as images/thumbnails with a link to the youtube video.
@nicoleleonard : I'll have a look at the email draft right now. So you can send it this morning.

Cecile Blanchet Wed 1 Feb 2017 8:57AM
@nicoleleonard : I am done editing the email. For my part, it can go whenever you want. Please @all, have a look and let Nicole know if there must be any adjustment/change. Thanks!

Nicole Leonard Wed 1 Feb 2017 8:59AM
When you add a link "here",for all the goodies, should I be linking to the Material hackpad?

Cecile Blanchet Wed 1 Feb 2017 9:01AM
Yep, but to the "cleaner" version. It does not? sorry for that.

Cecile Blanchet Wed 1 Feb 2017 9:03AM
OK I have updated all links.

Nicole Leonard Wed 1 Feb 2017 9:05AM
ok, do I send now or wait for Maia's website changes...

Nicole Leonard Wed 1 Feb 2017 9:14AM
the intro text on the clean Material pad and the intro text on the website are different. Not that big of a deal but I'm going to hang back a couple more minutes anyway.

Cecile Blanchet Wed 1 Feb 2017 9:51AM
Sorry all, we are doing a last edit with @sophie40 on the clean version, which I will copy back on the other one. I let you know @nicoleleonard when this is ready and you can just send the mail. @maiadereva : please also take the text for the website from this clean Hackpad (https://europeancommonsassembly.hackpad.com/Material-for-the-ECA-media-splash-izQBdmlArpd) THANKS ! (and sorry for the last-minute hectic)

Cecile Blanchet Wed 1 Feb 2017 9:53AM
One other thing: I am looking for the link to the link to the policy proposals on the wiki of the commons transition to put on the material hackpad. Could someone post it here? Thanks again!

Cecile Blanchet Wed 1 Feb 2017 10:25AM
Merci Nicole! Ready to send the email?

Nicole Leonard Wed 1 Feb 2017 10:26AM
sure, I guess it's fine as is and Maia can just do website updates later.

Cecile Blanchet Wed 1 Feb 2017 10:29AM
Yep, I guess we should just go ahead! Yeah!
Twitter: I am preparing pictures and quotes to send on twitter. Is it OK or do you want to do that (tweet) Nicole?
@maiadereva : the final text is ready, could you please update the home page of the website? Thanks a lot!

Nicole Leonard Wed 1 Feb 2017 10:56AM
you can tweet, I'll circulate on my personal accounts for now. Please confirm that you got the message through the Commonswatch list

Cecile Blanchet Wed 1 Feb 2017 10:57AM
I did get the mail, well done! I'll tweet then
I just cannot get in contact with @maiadereva to modify the website. Anybody has contact with her? Thanks!
Maïa Dereva Wed 1 Feb 2017 11:01AM
Hi @cecileblanchet : the text in the website has been update!

Cecile Blanchet Wed 1 Feb 2017 11:02AM
Ha @maiadereva ! MERCI !!! Would it be still possible to move the video between the title and the text? Thanks!
Maïa Dereva Wed 1 Feb 2017 11:19AM
Done!
What do you think to put another photo at the top of the site? More "winterly". If so, which one?

Cecile Blanchet Wed 1 Feb 2017 11:49AM
Hi @maiadereva : we could use one of the ECA actually? Perhaps this one : https://flic.kr/p/NszR8x? Or someone has another suggestion?
Maïa Dereva Wed 1 Feb 2017 12:15PM
Done with the photo you suggested @cecileblanchet
What do you think, it's great no? :)

Stacco Troncoso Wed 1 Feb 2017 11:37AM
Well whopsie, I was convinced that today we were promoting Food Commons, but of course it makes more sense to start with the general overview vid. I've launched both as embedded vids/blog posts combinations on the P2PF blog.
I'll promote the first today. The second has been launched and gone automaticalyl to the P2PF's social media channels, but we can give it a push next week.

Cecile Blanchet Wed 1 Feb 2017 12:11PM
I share some of the picts I made for twitter/blogs... Free to use! (& more to come)

Nicole Leonard Wed 1 Feb 2017 12:18PM
Great! Just a quick thought... for the following Wednesday Commonsdays, we can keep inviting people to sign the call and provide the link...

Cecile Blanchet Wed 1 Feb 2017 12:34PM
Super @maiadereva ! Ca donne vraiment bien :)
Sure @nicoleleonard, we can do that (even now?)

Nicole Leonard Wed 1 Feb 2017 12:51PM
Sure, the link to the call is here: http://europeancommonsassembly.eu/call-for-a-european-commons-assembly/
And the link to sign directly: http://europeancommonsassembly.eu/sign-call/
Maïa Dereva Wed 1 Feb 2017 1:19PM
OK @nicoleleonard & @cecileblanchet , I added a button at the bottom of the homepage...

Cecile Blanchet Wed 1 Feb 2017 1:50PM
NiCE!
And another pict

Cecile Blanchet Wed 1 Feb 2017 3:09PM
Hi guys, I have to leave the scene but I'll be back soon with a short summary of the splash in term of activity (stats). In the meantime, keep on going!
Another info: I will not be available next Wednesday (in Vienna for a project meeting), so I guess we'll need to prepare in advance. I can coordinate that with @nicoleleonard.
And to finish, another pict (!) web format

Nicole Leonard Wed 1 Feb 2017 3:52PM
Unfortunately I have to run soon too. I realized though, that we should try and tweet at specific people rather than just send a whole bunch of unaddressed ones (I don't have much twitter experience, perhaps this is obvious). ANyways, we can make them theme related in the coming weeks... e.g. organizations working on food for next week, 350 greenpeace and even more insitutional orgs like the IEA etc. on energy, etc. etc. I can start compilign some lists and the twitter handles of who to target. In fact, I'm pretty sure you can create lists in Twitter so we can use them again in the future.

Cecile Blanchet Wed 1 Feb 2017 4:46PM
Good idea @nicoleleonard ! I'll send a few tonight/tomorrow: to some political parties, EU agencies... other ideas?
But in fact I was hoping we coud rely on our network to address specific audiences... Let's see what we can do.

Cecile Blanchet Fri 3 Feb 2017 10:27AM
Dear all,
First of all, I would like to thank you wholeheartedly for your work, input, support and kindness! I have worked in many different arenas but so far, I wanted to tell you that I enjoyed the working atmosphere in the group: the reactivity, the listening ability, the exchanges and constructive critics. It's a pleasure being involved in the ECA with you!
I also wanted to report shortly on the media splash. I attach here a few screen shots from the twitter analytics. As you can see, there's be quite some activity.
But I think we can do better, and as @nicoleleonard mentioned, by tagging specific people. For the coming weeks, I'll ask people on the mailing list to send us suggestions of people/organisations to tag. It would also perhaps be a good idea to have a few tweets ready in various languages.
Any other suggestions to improve our reach?
And does someone have access to the website stats?
Thanks again to all and have a nice week-end!

Cecile Blanchet Fri 3 Feb 2017 10:28AM
There's another screen shot that I cannot upload for some reason...

Cecile Blanchet Fri 3 Feb 2017 2:38PM
@nicoleleonard : I have made a draft for the email on Monday, please check and comment on the Hackpad - working document https://europeancommonsassembly.hackpad.com/Material-for-media-splash-Wed.-February-01-Working-document-mPoeVUqBsA5
Also I have created a hackpad for the twitter lists per topic:
https://europeancommonsassembly.hackpad.com/Twitter-lists-pw0ocNe3szY
Cheers!

Stacco Troncoso Fri 3 Feb 2017 3:56PM
Dear @cecileblanchet thanks for the uplifting comments! I have a list of good commons-oriented Twitter contacts we use. Where shall I share it, here in Loomio or do you think it should go in one of the hackpads? (Also looking forward to add other people's suggestions, or course)

Nicole Leonard Fri 3 Feb 2017 4:29PM
I would say on the hackpad, this one: https://europeancommonsassembly.hackpad.com/Twitter-lists-pw0ocNe3szY

Nicole Leonard Fri 3 Feb 2017 4:31PM
Also just wanted to say, thanks to @marta and/or @martinpairet it looked really good on the European Alternatives site. @fredericsultan, did you get the videos up on Remix the Commons too?

Stacco Troncoso Fri 3 Feb 2017 5:51PM
K, added some accounts. Feel free to edit/relocate as you see fit.

Nicole Leonard Fri 3 Feb 2017 6:38PM
Cool, thanks. Great stuff! I think we should also be going at specific politicians and more mainstream institutions too. E.g. for food, who's debating the common agricultural policy right now? Obviously this requires more research, but it's probably worth it to cut across our own political circles... or am I just being naive?

Cecile Blanchet Mon 6 Feb 2017 9:34AM
A few picts for Wednesday

Cecile Blanchet Mon 6 Feb 2017 9:55AM
And another 2

Nicole Leonard Tue 7 Feb 2017 10:53AM
Great, I will include these on the reminder email in a bit.

Cecile Blanchet Wed 15 Feb 2017 10:08AM
So for those who are waiting for it: here is the hackpad for this week's Wednesday Commonsday with the video Right to the City: https://europeancommonsassembly.hackpad.com/Material-for-Right-to-the-city-ahpUHgbGlwk
I will prepare some pictures for the twitter campaign. If someone has some nice ones (CC or public domain), please share them here!
Thanks and have a nice day all!

Nicole Leonard Wed 15 Feb 2017 10:12AM
I will send the email on the list now, and you can just add the pics when they're ready.

Cecile Blanchet Fri 17 Feb 2017 9:30AM
Hi all, we are more than halfway our media program and I wanted to give you a little update on the twitter activity. Here are a few screen shots:
1) summary of the activity
2) evolution of the reach (impressions are the number of people able to see our tweet)
3) number of followers.
I would say, so far it looks good! Clearly, Jose Luis did an amazing job on twitter and his support shows on the activity :) Thanks for that! But we can also see that even though the last Wednesday Commonsday did not stir so much activity, we continued gaining new followers, which is great as increasing the visibility of the ECA was clearly one of our goals. If someone could check the stats on the website, it would be great!
Have a nice weekend all and see you next week for an energetic Commonsday!
Cecile
PS I plan to document all that on a Hackpad, which I will link here.

Thanks :)

Which kind of "means of signing the call" are you thinking about @staccotroncoso ? To me, in terms of communication, I think it is important for the call and the tool to collect signatures to be published in the same time.
