Big Map to e-NABLE the Future
One Liner: For $7500, we can have an interactive google-earth-like world map/globe that will make it easy to collate, display and celebrate e-NABLE success stories from all over the world.
Background:
At our May 3 Town Hall meeting, I made a short pitch for $1000 in discretionary funding to have a company called Digital-E scope out the possibility that e-NABLE could have something like the (brittle but cool) Big Map to Save the Future I prototyped 2 years ago for the EcoRestoration Alliance.
At the June 7 Town Hall meeting the team from Digital-E presented a mockup and an architecture that could make it so. The folder containing their Phase 0 Deliverables now also includes proposal to do the deed for $7500.
(If you dig in to these documents, you'll see that I initially suggested they incorporate our Chapter Map into this. But that ain't broke, so we need not fix it. Ignore the Chapter tab in their mockups).
As is our custom, before putting this up for a vote, we welcome discussion.

I would totally support this. This could be a great way to see that we are changing lives and also what the scale is of our community and the impact we make. At this moment we really don't know much about how much impact we are making. At the hub we see many volunteers searching for recipients, but I am sure that there are many recipients found and helped. My Dutch chapter has it's own local collaborations and publications on media, that helps us find recipients. I am sure other chapters do this as well. So I expect that we have so much more impact, than we now know. Having something with which we can show, that we do have a big impact could be really beneficial.

Not knowing what are current Finances are, I'm unsure what way to go. What can we expect in the future?

Why is this important?
For $7500, we can have an interactive google-earth-like world map/globe (rather like http://bigmaptosavethefuture.net that will collate, display and celebrate e-NABLE success stories from all over the world.
This will help motivate e-NABLERs, funders, donors and recipients, and it will allow set the stage for a systematic process of counting and estimating a subset of our contributions.
Note: based on feedback from the community, we are NOT going to roll the Chapters Map into this project. The Chapters Map is alive and well, and being updated.
