Introductions and getting to know each other

LHB Loomio Helper Bot Public Seen by 182

The purpose of this thread is to give Navigators a space to introduce themselves, interact with each other, and make new connections.

To help us create a better understanding of our strengths as a group, here are some possible questions to help with introductions:

How are you involved/engaging with the SE space?
How do you feel about being a part of the Navigators group?
What motivated you to join this learning journey?

Ian Daniels Wed 24 Apr 2019 4:00AM

I'm Ian Daniels and I am hoping that my loose connection will encourage ALL invitees to share their details. My involvement is through a commitment to the broader cause rather than a specific social enterprise. I operate About Managing Pty Ltd as a management consulting business but my real 'business' is to contribute to the Boards and Management Committees of charities and other not-for-profits utilizing my finance, human resources, information technology and governance skills and knowledge. I have a strong and long lasting commitment to social justice. I am currently contributing to Community Living Association Inc (CLA) through several roles on its management committee. CLA is a leading social enterprise - and auspicer of several other social enterprises. I am currently contributing to Aurous Limited which includes Nundah Activity Centre through roles on its Board. I am currently contributing to Laidley Community Centre Inc. (LCC) as Vice President and Treasurer. LCC is a community assistance group through which I have led the development of a social enterprise cafe.

I feel very honoured to have been invited to join what I believe to be one of the greatest social movements of this century.

I am motivated by several of the QSEC Board members and seeing what they have achieved. My current reading "The Future Chasers" by Jan Owen has re-invigorated me!

Alex Hannant Tue 30 Apr 2019 9:18PM

I'm Alex Hannant. If there's one thing I'm passionate about it's finding ways to organise and create the conditions that enable people to make change. I believe in the power of social enterprise, in all its various forms, and see it playing a central role in a positive future, if we're to have one. I have some experience in sector development and realise both how challenging and rewarding it can be. I think we currently have a great opportunity to take social enterprise in QLD to the next level, and am committed to making a contribution via this project and our wider work at the Yunus Centre, at Griffith University.
