Encourage circular economy with local vouchers / Encourager l'économie circulaire via des chèques locaux

DS Daniel Sum Public Seen by 344

The idea is to have something very similar to meal vouchers or eco vouchers but adapted for the circular economy in Brussels.

Local vouchers will works only for products/services that come from Brussels with a label "Circular Brussels". Employers can give Local vouchers pretty much as the same than Meal vouchers and get in return a little fiscal deduction.

The goal of that is to reenforce the economy of Brussels and make the city more resilient and more sustainable in the future. A good exemple of how it could be very useful and the impact that it could have is to compare that with the WIR in Switzerland : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WIR_Bank.

Sounds interesting. You'd need the backing of some regional governmental institutions though. Like Atrium for example. Reason is you need some scale to make it work. Perhaps you can find a link with one of the 111 actions in the Regional Plan on Circular Economy (the so-called PREC). You could simply contact one of the people there to inquire if this is something that can feed into the plan. I'm pretty sure Gosuin of Défi (a rather Francophone oriented party) who is responsible for the PREC is interested in this sort of ideas.

would it be interesting to bring this up to discussion at a communal level? Is there anything we can do at that level, like suggesting payments of to service/good's providers of a given comune to be made in Xelles coins or something? or allow fines to be paid in that currency? how to ensure high adoption - even if local - by using communal power (assuming we get elected and can push it forward?)

Hi all, I think indeed that it should be backed at a regional level with hub.brussels (new fusion of Atrium, Impulse and Brussels import/export) and we should contact the cabinet of Didier Gosuin. At a communal level, I participate to the Local Currency in Schaerbeek and I am in contact with Financité (that backs a lots of local currencies projects in Brussels)

=> I think that Schaerbeek could be a good start to propose this idea as it's a the current mayor is from DéFi. The thing is in Schaerbeek they are really open and actually make good jobs so I don't necessary see someone from WeBrussels to run on election in Schaerbeek but more trying pushing the idea to a political level and have some guarantees that it will be applied by any party that win the election... But that needs a discussion in Schaerbeek (maybe I will try to contact other people from Schaerbeek to have a vote on that).
