Streamline the sub-group invite/ sign-up process
I want to be able to invite people directly to join sub-groups.
At present it involves too many steps:
- admin invites someone to join main group
- they accept invitation
- they then (hopefully) request to join sub-group admin actually wants them to join
- admin approves
This should be:
- admin invites someone to join group(s)
- they accept and are immediately members of said group(s).
Josef, I am with you, be great to simplify this process. I am sure it will happen when the development team have time to draw breath
It's not far away. There is some agreement to gain but if i had things my way, subgroups would behave the same as top level groups except they would allow a separate privacy/visibility setting for people who belong to the parent group
@robertguthrie you said somewhere that we might be very soon able to invite people directly to specific discussions - any idea when? The proposal I'd like to invite people to ends in 2 days (although I admit I'm likely to extend it...)
It should come with the discussion page redesign.. probably a matter of a month or 3.
Totally agree with your proposal, someone might be just invited to a subgroup and as a consequence they belong (by default) to the "core" group, it is simpler and fastest.
