I nominate Melbourne to host, as if there is going to be an east coast repeat I think its fitting for Melbourne to be the first as they were the first.

I just got off the phone with the company who run the Spring Hill courts.
They have just completed a refurbishment of the surface of the court and will not be hiring it out for purposes other than tennis.
The other option we have discussed was Coorpooroo district netball courts who have also come back with a negative response to using the courts due to safety concerns and liability. The Sydney team kindly provided us with some information to provide them with regarding the safety and insurance aspect, but they wanted nothing to do with us.
Our milton courts are not suitable due to short size (34x34m) and only one court (the adjacent one has a permanent net posts.
Our spring hill courts cannot be booked and are first come first served, the manager was very firm on this when we met with him last year.
Unless there is a very small number of teams keen and a 1 court tourney is agreed on, Brisbane will be unable to host.
I think the first step is to identify the number of individuals interested in attending as players (even if it is just a rough estimate)
This way we can decide on the format, court size and resources needed for the host city.

Enquiry into the number of prospective nationals teams Closed Mon 2 Mar 2015 6:05AM

A facebook post on the Australian page to ask how many individuals are interested in attending a world's qualifying tournament gets posted tonight.
non-facebook users and people who are don't check facebook religiously will be consulted by their representatives in person or via other means such as email threads.
Some people may not fall into just one city if they are travelling within AUS or move around for work.

Next monday representatives from each city give a liberal estimate of how many teams they will be sending.
This means that we will know court size, format, financial resources needed and volunteers available.

Time sensitive operation. Unless I have major objections in the next 24 hours, I'll go ahead with this. if there is a more inclusive/ better way to do this, let me know.

When you speak to your clubs, please make it known that it might be as little as 4 spots available for direct qualification. I think this is important for teams making the choice to attend or not or whether to focus their efforts on the wildcard tournie.

I still don't see why we will have less slots available than last year.

lets keep the consistency of the last two years and have six slots and three for NZ.

@ollie1 it's because the overall number of teams will almost certainly be reduced to 48 following on from the requests of both NAH and EU in montpellier - as well as more allocations for asian, south american and african teams which weren't offered spots last year.

I can safely say Canberra will not be sending a team to the Qualifier.

I thought it was going to be a 64 team tourney @brooktaitstyles

Our bid was for five courts and 64 teams. Why not keep that and have a large number of team allocations for all the regions. That will benefit our region more than limiting spots.
