Thanks @alanna I had done that a few days ago but the notifications alerts had remained.

After starting this discussion I cleared them all and will observe whether new ones come from the group I've select not to receive any from.

I should clarify that I'm not talking about the email notifications but the notifications that appear on the bell icon when you are logged on.

The unwanted notifications are still coming through and there appears to be no place to switch them off.

Also a further thing which is frustrating me at the moment is that there is no way to select which groups send you proposal closing emails. It is either from all groups or none.

One group I am a member of has 30 or so proposals being discussed concurrently and I am starting to get emails from them saying they are closing in 24 hours.

It is probably something we need to be careful of in the future as Loomio grows because the emails will get reported as spam by some people in this situation.

I naturally don't want to unsubscribe from them as I would miss the decisions which are important to me.

Thanks for the feedback Neil. It seems clear to me we need to provide more per group settings for both in app and email notification subscriptions.

@jonlemmon in the next UI, will you be able to unfollow a group while staying a member?

Yes, the future UI should address these issues, but just so we're on the same page, let's build a list of requirements. We'd like to:

1. Be able to turn off all personal in-app notifications for a group
2. Be able to turn off all personal email notifications for a group (including 24hr closing soon)

Now, question for you @neilmorris - in your current use case are you wanting to turn off ALL (both in-app and email) notifications for the group? I'm just wondering if we can get away with a simple switch for turning all notifications on/off for the group (something like "Follow/Unfollow"). It would turn off/on both the email and in-app notifications.

Another way would be to give the user the option to choose which types of notifications they want for each group (email, inapp, both, or neither). However, that's quite a lot of options so I'd like to avoid it if possible.

@jonlemmon Yes I'm wanting to turn off ALL (both in-app and email) notifications for the group. Having the ability to turn this off would make my use of Loomio more enjoyable!
