Central city vitality and safety - How do we transform the city at night?

What creates the conditions for a safe and vibrant city at night? What can we do to stimulate a thriving night-time economy without negatively impacting residents or communities?
Some things to consider might be:
- The mix of activity that encourages diverse people to participate
- Environmental design - what can spaces and furniture create?
