New budgetary proposals

We've just completed this poll on priorities for uses of excess funds. Interesting results! Since we started this, I think we should help shepherd the process forward. A couple next steps:

• Clearly the top priority was to pay working group members more. A couple ways to move forward on that:

  • Pay ourselves? We're the only working group not being paid at all

  • Can we poll other working groups to see what kind of raise they would like?

• The next cluster of interests was around a) supporting another service, and b) fund open source development and co-op development. A couple steps there:

  • Price out this discussion on supporting a Matrix server

  • Make proposals for setting up recurring Open Collective contributions to Mastodon and some co-op efforts. We could, for instance, create our own mini-grant fund for co-ops to apply for. It wouldn't be very much money, but I think it could be a nice addition to the ecosystem.
