Geochicas is celebrating their jubilee and is requesting support from OSGeo.

The proposal is to provide 1000 USD funding for this event.

Description and budget:

Internal Geochicas Assembly (1 day)
This gathering will bring together members from across Latin America to reflect on the collective’s evolution, exchange experiences, and envision future directions. Activities will include participatory workshops on feminist mapping methodologies, internal project evaluation, and discussions on governance, care practices, and sustainability in the current political context, both regionally and globally.

Public Event: Feminist Geographies Gathering (1 day)
We aim to bring together feminist geographers, academics, researchers, students, practitioners from various fields, and dedicated activists for a day of collaborative engagement. The program is structured to facilitate the sharing of ongoing work, creating an open and supportive environment for presenting research, projects, and initiatives. We'll dedicate a core part of the day to organizing rich, multi-perspective dialogues and discussions. These sessions will serve as a critical space to engage with current challenges, theoretical debates, and successful strategies within the discipline and related social justice movements.

Ultimately, a key, actionable outcome of the open day is the opportunity for attendees to co-write and define a clear, comprehensive regional agenda. This agenda outlines priority areas for future research, policy advocacy, community action, and pedagogical innovation, ensuring the work is grounded in feminist principles and responsive to the region's specific needs and contexts. The writing process of this Latin American agenda will culminate during the VII Seminario Latinoamericano de Geografía, Género y Sexualidades in Costa Rica, where collective inputs gathered throughout the event and prior exchanges will be consolidated into a shared regional roadmap.
