Thanks Mark, most helpful. I'm thinking that the broad collective of people and orgs that are doing cooperative development need to get themselves/ourselves into an investment-ready position whilst at the same time inputting into the emerging process that the Labour and Co-operative parties are clearly undertaking about how to grow the cooperative economy.

Jo Bird is a keen supporter and gave me some useful feedback as I was developing the concept paper. She may well appreciate an invitation.

So, do we just bang out invites (open space style - whoever is here are the right people) or is there a decision making process?

I've been working on the basis of if someone suggested someone and there was no objection then they would be free to invite. Do we think that's OK or should we make it more of a process?

You can have multiple proposals/votes per one discussion thread, so suggest voting one by one? This is how CoTech votes on new member applications. I'm ready to start suggesting names ...

Now that @marksimmonds and Co-op Culture has kindly fronted the fee to upgrade this group so that we can add more people, I'd like to suggest that we invite Shaun Fensom. He is the other half of Cooperative Networks and reponsible for much of the thinking behind the Innovation Cooperative model that inmany ways prefigures what we're working on now.

I'm thinking that at some point soon we could do with some more techie folk or have we got it covered? How about Chris from Web Architects that co-presented with you at Ways Forward @graham2 ?

I was thinking that it's about the time to let the CoTech community know about what we're cooking up, and to invite interested parties from there into this group. I'll do that this week.

As a result of the post yesterday I've now had three (so far) indications of interest, so I'm going to send invite links to those people: Chris Croome (Webarchitects), Bill Olivier from Cetis (Bill and I share an interest in the potential of alternative currency for the development of the cooperative economy), also Fabian Tompsett and Richard Barbrook from Digital Liberties. Hoping for more expressions of interest in the coming days.

Hi all - I'm proposing that we invite a member from each of the platform co-ops on the UnFound programme to this group. There are - unsurprisingly - parallel conversations going on amongst these new organisations and because Platform 6 is focusing on developing co-operative / platform infrastructure support I think there would be lots of benefit both ways.

Right. I'll add people now as no objections received. Bear in mind that this group is likely to change in the near future as we start to recruit subscribing members. We've already created a member sub-loomio (currently inactive). We'll likely move strategic and governance discussion to that sub-loomio with member-only invites and make this group public as one way to start engaging with the movement.

How did the pitch at Co-ops Congress go @emmaback ?

We raised 15k + an approximately equal amount in in-kind support! Which was fabulous, given that this is all one grand experiment and we are the (willing) guinea pigs. It was after the 4pm conference watershed, so not as many people there as could have been. There are murmurings about it being run as a separate event next year...

Yep agree, it went well with lots of learning for how we could improve for future. And yes I agree about if it was redone doing it as even more of a separate thing so people are attending expressly to give money to a good cause.

Ther eis active discussion there about the role and potnetial of the cooperative model in the tech sector, amongst other things.

Leo Sammallahti wants to join the group. Leo is an active #platformcoop supporter and is involved in both WeCo (one of the unfound group), and https://social.coop - the international social media platform run as a cooperative.

I'll add Leo in 6 days as per protocol. Subject to what happens at Open2018, when members of this group will be meeting face to face, It's likely that I'll propose that when we start recruiting members that this Loomio group becomes public, with a member only sub-loomio for internal governance.
