Secure communications?

I just want to get an idea of how much interest people would have in using some sort of encrypted communications platform. If it seems like there's enough interest I might go ahead and make more in-depth how-to post on the topic.

I'm also experimenting with retroshare which can be clunky like tox, but it much more feature rich with forums, filesharing, chat, and a reddit-like system.
