Determining host for AHBPC 2015 and Australasian bid for WHBPC 2015

N NickDW [CBR] Public Seen by 20

There has been a lot of talk over multiple forums about AHBPC 2015 and WHBPC 2015 and which Australasian city would host which.

In this discussion I will be proposing that we discuss both together, and then, once that is decided for or against, we sort it out either together or separately.

That we discuss the host city/cities for AHBPC 2015 and WHBPC 2015 concurrently Closed Wed 6 Aug 2014 4:03PM

Australasia agreed to bid for 2015 Worlds, in Timaru. Nationals will be determined in that context.

If you agree you are saying that we will discuss the host city of AHBPC 2015 at the same time as discussing the proposed Australasian host of WHBPC 2015.

If you disagree you are saying that the two should be determined without reference to the other.

Given the discussion in the Jedi Council and on Facebook about the potential host cities for the two tournaments I believe we need to discuss both at once.

This is completely up to Timaru first. I think they should have a think about what they wish to do. I'm against the pressure that FB seemed to be applying for them to do it as it is in those peoples own interest, not Timaru's.

If we host the world event there will be increased importance placed on qualification criteria by the Aus polo community. I believe that nature of the AHBPC2015 is intrinsically linked with qualification and so the discussions must be dovetailed.

I think for 2015 only it is a better option to split NZ and AU qualifications.

To avoid excessive travel for isolated western Aus and poorer community members.

It would also give a better ranking for allocating the many wild card slots.

Timaru strongly feels that AHBPC 2015 should be joint and be the best event possible as it is this event that builds grassroots, worlds is a bonus and should be treated seperately.

I believe we as the AHBPA need to discuss the AHBPC15 first and foremost, despite the fact that we have all said we would help run and support at WHBPC15 in Timaru.

I think while WHBPC should be a priority there is no reason not to discuss both events simultaneously.

I would like to leave the decision to Timaru

Edit: I've been convinced that these two things need to be discussed together :)
