Culture Questions

In the ongoing pursuit of organisational transparency, the Nests have committed to asking anonymous questions of the Membership and do a bit of a temperature check about certain topics!
These will be made as simple and non-time-consuming as possible!

Develop and share a reporting framework so we can all see where the information flows

I appreciate the amount of work happening over the last 6 months in particular plus recent emails with lots of insight on the amount going on in the background is awesome

I personally haven't had concerns in this space, but acknowledge that I have lots of conversations with members around background work. I think the recent video from Nat and the emails that are coming out are fantastic. These polls are also great.

My sense is that the organisation does attempt where possible to be transparent and I don't feel that there is intentionally things being hidden. I think the nature of the self-organising aspect to the org means that not everyone can be across everything. However, some of the major things of late have come seemingly out of nowhere - i.e. Aleks joining the board (which is going to be great) and also the additional NDIS registrations.

I think it's a two-way street in which membership engagement is very skewed to a smaller percentage of the organisation. The ones who will have the most questions around transparency will be the ones who won't even see this Loomio poll. I feel we must find a way to streamline engagement or we will continue to create misunderstandings. If less than half the membership doesn't engage with polls such as this then there are system issues which need to be addressed.

We have too many sites we have to work with and remember to look at Sharepoint Loomio etc streamline to one site for all also we need to stop replying all to emails its great when they are sent out but getting 5 + responses is just annoying when it's a general that's great etc response.
The Teams have been doing a great job behind the scenes cleaning up

Reporting frameworks and communication throughout the membership is important. How we do this so its not information overload is always going to be a challenge.
Anonymous
Sun 24 Mar 2024 6:22AM
Too many communication platforms to deal with so reluctant to engage. reduce them.

Always a laugh and learning. I'd like to see an absolute transparency with documents clean up in SHAREPOINT...Minutes of the Bored meeting need to be posted as well as Jeder financials...6 monthly as agreed.

instead of frameworks could we try Flow charts?

Dee Brooks Tue 6 Aug 2024 1:00AM
@Fiona Miller sorry I missed this! A flow chart for what? I love flow charts! (your comment is not connected to either of the polls?)

Fiona Miller Tue 6 Aug 2024 1:28AM
If my memory serves me, it was about reporting frameworks.....KISS just a flow chart, easy step by step. process not methodology

Dee Brooks Wed 7 Aug 2024 1:48AM
@Fiona Miller excellent - that's what I was thinking, too! I'll have a first stab at it and you can make it pretty?!?

Other: Jeder Website. Initally try to find information on Sharepoint given all harvests, handbooks etc are accessible. Only at this point would I speak to another member or admin. Sometimes some info is easily accessible on the website too.

Email seems to keep me updated on broad happenings.
Sharepoint is my starting point.
I get a lot of my day to day information just from being in Jedis/Jedlets
It'd be interesting to see what the result would have been were "Nest" listed individually.

go back through teams chat, sometimes search meeting harvests, ring Cherish! remember who was involved and go from there. Go down the sharepoint rabbit hole.

Jeder (ex) Member Partners Closed Thu 22 Aug 2024 10:00AM
Thanks for the votes. It's been decided to explore the "why" in more depth first.
Should we invite (or leave) our departing Members, who are still interested in partnering with us, in the Jeder Imagineers Facebook group?

Could be another offer to our Partners. If down the line, the partners group is looming large, they could seperate in to a focused group. For now, I think it could be a good way to stay connected and networked :)
Thoughts:
Do we need to consider if there is conflict of interest in doing so?
What is the purpose of our FB group, and would the purpose affect/help this decision? (Is it purely social, or circle of practice? Both?)
Hurt, harm or damage the org?
I like the idea though!

Dee Brooks Mon 26 Aug 2024 4:41AM
@Cherish Page-Brooks good questions to consider first... I also wouldn't want to damage the "private nature" of the current group, even though we know there are a couple of lurkers - let's explore the "why" seeing as the ones who did respond wanted more intel.

Poll Created Thu 5 Sep 2024 3:09AM
Where do new ideas go? Closed Fri 13 Sep 2024 3:00AM
Great responses, everyone who voted - thanks so much!
The majority of Members either use "burning issues" before the next meeting or their own "to do list" followed closely by keeping ideas in their big brains. Others add their ideas to the "items for discussion" at the meeting time and the final few (who shall remain unnamed) tell someone else and hope they share it or just completely forget about it...
A couple of other suggestions, based on what Members do, are:
Email the relevant Jedi Lead
Add it to their personal Planner board
Pop them in a journal for a surprise later
Hold them for ripening at another time
What do you do with your ideas? Do you wait for the next relevant Jedi to add to "items" for discussion? Do you add to the previous meeting's "burning issues"?

I mainly add to my own list, and hope to remember it in a meeting. I鈥檓 trying to get better at adding it to burning issues though!

Tess Pollard Thu 5 Sep 2024 3:09AM
If it is something outside my normal working space I'll email the relevant Jedi lead if I'm unable to attend with background information. Otherwise, everything stays on my own to do list until the Jedi comes up and I put it on items for discussion.

Cathy Erbacher Thu 5 Sep 2024 3:09AM
I try to attend the most relevant Jedi to raise it myself, even if I can only be there for 10 minutes just to get it into a "holding" space. I've not added to "Burning Issues" nor "Items for Discussion". I would prefer "Items for Discussion" to keep things in a forward flowing movement, and I will trial this for myself.

Steph Bitter Thu 5 Sep 2024 3:09AM
I also add them to my personal Planner like, 'take this idea to xxx Jedi' and things like that

Fiona Miller Thu 5 Sep 2024 3:09AM
Usually they pop up when driving. Pop them in a journal or one of them.... sometimes find them 3 months later - surprise! Extremely rare for me to add it to meeting notes anywhere, meeting notes scare me, brain does not compute.
Depends if it's org relevant, team relevant, etc Depends on what I am doing, current work load, time, balance relevance
I think ideas sit in our big brains and we hold onto them, collect more intel, build them slowly until it's ripe for testing and sharing.

I forgot to comment. After nearly 6 years of being a member of Jeder, I've always been able to ask any question on my heart and mind and have never had a closed minded response. There's still a lot I know which I don't know and I am comfortable asking for clarification regarding those. Finally there will always be so much that I don't know that I don't know and a lot of it I don't need to know 馃檪. Jeder as an organism is an exceptional being when it comes to transparency.
