PATHWAYS TO CoHOP MEMBERSHIP

CoHOP Limited is a legal company set up to bring New Zealanders together in a system of mutual support, to achieve sustainable and resilient home ownership and safe, secure savings for all its members. There are many different ways to become involved:

INTERESTED PARTICIPANT: To follow and participate in discussions more closely, follow the steps outlined below.

CoHOP MEMBER: To become involved in Team CoHOP and actively participate in the ongoing development of CoHOP Ltd., follow the steps outlined below.

FINANCIAL MEMBER: To become a contributor/part owner in the land and assets of CoHOP Ltd. please contact either Sonia Corbett at [email protected] or Pamela Bramley at [email protected] to receive a the company constitution and shareholder agreement.


Steps to CoHOP Participation

To become involved as an ‘Interested Participant’, ‘CoHOP Member’, or ‘Financial Member’ the process is as follows:

1) Approach a CoHOP member, or contact Pamela Bramley at [email protected]

2) Send a brief introduction of yourself and your interest in cohousing to [email protected]
3) You’ll be sent relevent information to participate .
4) For potential CoHOP members and Financial Members, a proposal to join will be put to Team CoHOP. 
We’ll contact you by email when agreement is reached and you will be sent the latest bank statement.
5) At this point you can choose to deposit an unsecured amount (EG: $100) into the CoHOP pre-share account and at a later stage you will be invited to convert this amount to shares upon the next share conversion date if you wish.

Other Pathways to becoming a CoHOP member:
We also invite those interested in CoHOP, but not yet ready to join as members, to become a member of ‘The Village’ Savings Pool. This pathway has been shown to build trust and community and allows you to experience a CoHOP type process of cooperation, collaboration and transparency within a group prior to commitment to CoHOP Ltd. You can join ‘The Village’ Savings Pool whether a member of CoHOP or not.
