Management email alias on inbound
Hi all. I have loomio set up as per instructions at https://github.com/loomio/loomio-deploy - all is working. I need to set up an email alias for the domain that I have running there so for example "postmaster@loomio.example.com" to be forwarded to my email address so I can handle administration on that email domain. I am not familiar enough with mailin to see if that is possible to do from inside the docker image loomiodeploy_mailin_1 and it seems like there should be some kind of administration email address that I can have forwarded without someone actually having an account on the server inside loomio. Any address would do, I just need to give my SMTP service provider an administration email I can respond to from inside the domain. Is there an address built into loomio that someone can send an email to that will go to the admin address or is there any way to set this up?
Is there a particular way I need to forward the email to the mailing container? I guess that is a simple enough process to set up if there is no secret way I need to have that working. I am having trouble finding information about how to do that, but I am sure it will turn up if I keep looking.
We could potentially route any unrecognised addresses into new threads in a special admin group. Seems like a kind of fun feature.
Sounds like I just need to set up a normal postfix instance and forward everything that is not the addresses I want to capture to the mailin container. It is a lot of configuration work to accomplish what seems like it would be easy enough to do, and I need to set up an entire postfix forwarding mail server just for one alias. I just need to forward email from postmater or webmaster to another email address, so that is the only way I can seem to get that working. I can just continue to use gmail smtp for the time being if we end up actually adopting it I will need to use the other smtp host because of the gmail daily limit, and the smtp host I can use to get a larger limit without having to pay for it requires I be able to receive emails at an address on the domain as above. It would probably be relatively easy to set up a forward considering all the mail handling you are doing in the app, but I guess the need i have is not universal enough if this hasn't come up before.
Sorry there is no support for this at this stage. All emails just get converted into requests on the application. I suggest you setup a front end smtp which catches specific addresses then forwards all other email to the mailin container
