If it'll help renew Brighton, then buy me the ticket!

We could spend a lot of money, time and resources getting to the moon - but it's just going to distract us from our goal of making New Brighton the coolest place in our Galaxy! :)

Budget is an issue, but also I don't even like flying so lunar travel is jsut too much for me to deal with at this time.

I hadn't considered funding a lunar trip- thanks Sue and James for pointing that out to me. My resources are obviously better deployed more locally

Let's make it a 'working holiday', a team-building trip, get out of our comfort zones and come back fearless with a 'go for gold' energy to create an 'out of this world' New Brighton.

If flying to Europe is anything to go by then getting all the way to the moon would will make reallly grumpy. Plus Brighton has more oxygen!

I think holidays are always a necessity but we don't always make time. Plus I've always fancied being an astronaut!

I agree with this proposal. Maybe not now becasue other things need our focus, there seems to be a resource debate, and when we have sorted these things out, ie. invented asustainable ion drive engine driven space craft, Then we should go. I say yay.

We deserve this free breakaway as the Eastern Suburbs have won a major court case against the "culprits" who were responsible for the delay tactics in rebuilding and revitalising our area;the USA(already setld in NZ) will set up our free space centre

Great proposal, helping me get a feel for how this might work: ready for when the real decisions need making.

This looks like an interesting tool that could be used by communities for a range of discussions.

Sarah Wylie Wed 19 Sep 2012 1:19AM

I haven't budgeted for lunar travel so I panicking a bit.

Matt Walters Wed 19 Sep 2012 3:04AM

When will this holiday be?

Steve Carter Wed 19 Sep 2012 4:54AM

Well, 3 reasons:

  1. There's a reason humanity never returned after Apollo 17......scary moon monsters. Have yous not seen 'Apollo 18'?
  2. Anyway, it belongs to the USA (they planted their flag!) so the post 9/11 immigration hassles would be immense
  3. Besides, as parties go, it would have no atmosphere

Can it, and let's have a fire on the beach ;o)

sarah butterfield Wed 19 Sep 2012 7:05AM

the moon is far too precious to allow the likes of us riffraff humans there to muck it up...

Renew Brighton Wed 19 Sep 2012 8:09AM

Good question Matt- the proposal doesn't allow for a date.

Frances Ryan Wed 19 Sep 2012 10:22PM

The idea of a holiday sounds fantastic, my preference though would be a tropical beach!! The idea of incorporating it into a team building exercise would be ok too, best someone start looking for funding opportunities to support this

Cheers Frances

what a fantastic way to have a conversation - opens up all sorts of possibilities (that may or not be available on the moon) do they have WiFi there??

Shelley Walker Thu 20 Sep 2012 2:05PM

Not for me, thanks. The view would be great, but other entertainment opportunities are limited. No swimming, no hiking except in large cumbersome suits, and the shopping is abysmal.

Stefan van der Walt Fri 21 Sep 2012 7:14PM

That'll be great - we can have a "swim" in space on the way to the moon, enjoy little gravity... and for those of us progressing in life: less wrinkles and aches from carrying own weight, visit the botanic gardens with plants growing weird directions (in our specially designed "tropical domes") or just regenerate and soak in the great views on the blue planet and the universe...let's go!

Martha Baxendell Sun 23 Sep 2012 11:28PM

A moon hopper in the garden is as close as I want to get to this kind of holiday!
