Pinned threads
Hello Loomio product enthusiasts,
We've just released a new feature: pinning threads!
This is designed to allow group coordinators to emphasize certain conversations that are important for the group to know about. Threads that include things like code of conduct, introductions, or other important information can now be 'pinned' to the top of your group page, meaning they'll be really easy to access for visitors to your group.
Pins have superseded stars, which we found had very low adoption throughout the app (and we have some nice features in the pipeline to deal with the problem of keeping track of threads that are personally important to you).
You can access the 'pin' feature from the thread dropdown (you can also unpin threads from here). We'll likely make it so that you can pin a thread from the thread preview soon, as well.

Good and much needed feature for group admins!
However it should not be compared to favoring threads with stars as this is something each user does on its own pteference - no? What was missing was thread ordering with number of stars (and now maybe number of pins).
I could not find the pin option on this thread!
Only coordinators of a group may pin threads to that group. You should still be able to see this thread 'stick' to the top of the product development group page, though :)

i know some people who weren't aware of the pinned thread function (as you don't see it unless it has been used by others - or you are checking the drop down options)
could it be added to the 'front' of the thread (on roll over - like the tick and mute?) to make more apparent (and can/should this be restricted to group views rather than on dashboard?)
also, it looks like a map marker to me - any reason not to use a pin icon 📌

Hi Ben, we have a pin in the action dock of the context panel now. It might be something we add to the hover enabled buttons on the thread list too.
The icon choice is not ideal, and it's limited by the material icons set right now.. I really hope google updates that set soon!
Hi, it would be great if the How to use Loomio thread could be permanently fixed to the Group Description box. That way it is clearly positioned for newcomers. Just an idea.
Would also be more user friendly (for this user) if pin was next to the mute button rather than having to open the thread and dropdown. I had to search on google for "How to Pin on Loomio" to work it out. Which is how i found this thread. PS, great platform, keep up the good work!
Hi John, you can also pin by clicking on the pin in the action dock on the bottom right of the thread context box, here:

lol, of course as soon as I say it out loud I figure it out. Its not a drop-down, it's a pin w a line through it at the bottom of the original post. Thanks for the help! ( ;
