Should we even be using Loomio?

Wanted to start this conversation cause, being new to organizing such a group, I don't wanna assume this is the most efficient way to do so. Here's a breakdown of what I see as pros and cons of using Loomio:

PROS
-Nice beautiful site layout.
-Proposals could be super useful

CONS
-People have to check yet another social media site. With an email
listserv (Google Group), we'd just communicate via email and simply
decide things. Might be best to just do things in person.

Anyway, feel free to jump in here and give your two cents. I'm not attached to anything. Just want to see things get done. Other ideas about how to self organize are most welcome.

Well, I saw this message yesterday, but it took me until now to comment, because I had such a mental block to logging into this site, haha! That's very telling. Though it does seem like this is a good site for the proposals, etc that you want to implement. I can see it being a block to having new people join.

Though also, I don't plan on participating a whole ton, so don't let my opinion sway you too much.

nah... it's a good comment. i'm pretty over doing too much online. i think it has it's time and proper place, but so much can be decided and simply done in person. all this is simply a test. i've been adopting the approach to "break things". test em, and if they don't work, then so be it. so often we are terrified to do anything unless we think it is the perfect course of action. we don't learn much that way. ;)

so thanks beth! i'm agreeing. i spent so much time trying to simply get people together to woodchip the aronia berries and it's still not done and yet a lot of online time was spent. perhaps that will change on here in time, but personally i'm feeling like there is a much better in person organic way. i think it's simply called "if you build it, they will come". just DO IT and others who are interested will want to be a part of it. it's simple.
