Change title or description
When a group member changes the title or description of a discussion initiated by another person, should show that person made the change
@elimisteve according to the complications of programming.
On the other hand, when I modify the title or description written by someone else, I write the change in a comment.
Also in the description of the discussion, you can leave the modified text written and responsible for the change.
A simple solution: Unable to change the title and description: Who deems necessary, make changes, write a comment and the person who initiated the discussion, makes the modifications
I'm all for using Loomio internally on itself. Instead of an edit button, have a "Suggest a change" button. Hitting the button starts a proposal where a user would add their new suggested version of the title or description and if that proposal reaches consensus the title and/or description is updated when the proposal ends.
[ED: please ignore this comment; I didn't realize Loomio already has an excellent implementation of this.]
I think I would ideally prefer a system which allows anyone to edit the title or description, but shows the entire edit history for anyone who clicks on an "Edited" button.
(This is exactly how facebook lets you see how people have edited their own comments.)
I have no idea how much work it takes to implement such a feature.
Yes I agree this should show up in the comment stream similar to how it currently notifies everyone when someone changes the discussion context or extends a proposal. I think we have discussed this before and realised we need to improve this behavior, but haven't gotten around to it yet. I'll put it on the inbox.
I just tested, and it's not showing a notification in the comment stream, which I think it should. It does show "edited" (above the following button) and you can see the history there.
Text link 'Edited' changed by 'Revision History'.
'Edited' always visible, but not enabled when there were no modifications.
In the area of discussion, to report changes, similar to the position in a proposal.
I agree @carlosgallogaravan - it's on the roadmap now
@carlosgallogaravan Would a "Last edited by " mention be good enough?
Seems non-trivial to implement because instead of the Title just being a string, it'd have to become a class with Title (string), LastEditedBy (user), and perhaps Creator (user) fields.
