Task workflow and processes for managing jobs

P pospi Public Seen by 156

We need to define an agreed-upon set of conventions for moving tasks through our task management system so that everything that we need to communicate is clearly visible to all as jobs are progressed.

add "responsibility". Who's going to commit to do it and by when. Otherwise it is just lip service.

Agreed. So assigning at least one person as a member of each task upon starting it is our indicator of responsibility for now?

We should create an ELF management manual as a matter of priority Closed Wed 16 Jan 2019 7:02AM

This would be a Google Document to instruct on things such as configuration of Discord, use of Loomio, Trello, Drive, cost estimate & time tracking spreadsheets. Basically a process bible for the group. Pieces of this already covered by some Trello jobs, but nothing concrete about how we gather & present this info has been decided.

If I can get agreement on this it will make my ELF work requirements a bit clearer.

I'm happy for more documentation, but I think it's also good to just find the right balance of things that works. We covered this issue in detail on the the self organising course and we can look to the creators of loomio who all came to the agreement not to generate huge amounts of content, you can see how manage everything from their handbook: https://handbook.enspiral.com/ and a good model to work from.

Maybe it’s couched as a members participation manual and includes not just procedural stuff but site info like common weeds soil management growing tips bin days and will be a document that is added to as we learn more. A bit like we did with the Barung landcare landholders manual.

Personally I am more engaged with videos. Videos of your screen going through the processes I think would be the easiest way to digest. Well laid out "How to's" could also accompany these videos or be their alternative.

@tom120 it's a good point, I'll pull the Enspiral handbook as a starting point.
@deancameron a landholders manual would be an amazing thing to have too. I think perhaps for now they should be separate documents, but eventually I can potentially see them merging? I guess we will find out as we go...

Time spent on creation of the ELF procedures document should count as equity Closed Sun 20 Jan 2019 3:01AM

This seems like a persistent-enough deliverable to move from "operational costs" to "improvements to ELF" to me?
