Is Friendica really the best choice?

Friendica:
The code is public, and your information is private. Exactly opposite to FB and other "walled gardens".
Certain features of Friendica we may be interested in:
- Decentralised architecture with no central authority or ownership.
- Extensible via third-party plugin modules and themes. A growing number of both are currently available.
- Server-to-server military grade message encryption (on supported networks)
- Private conversation groups – on these pages all communications are restricted to group members – similar to Google+ “circles” or Diaspora “aspects”
- Optionally “expire” old content after a certain period of time. The content is also removed from all other Friendica servers which might be holding a copy.
- Location and other private information embedded in uploaded photos from cell phones is stripped
- Download your personal data. It all belongs to you.
- Facebook contacts and posts may be imported and become an extension of the Friendica network.
So, let's talk about setting up a test server.

While I don´t have personal experience with it and am not a coder to me http://buddycloud.com/all-features looks pretty promising. Any experiences?

Buddycloud haven't any connector to other social platforms (I based on info from features page). This is important for me and others who have a lots friends from "non-hacker" world

@dominik we need cross posting and connectors because we dont want lose contact with non-advenced friends. We want breaks garden walls not build new... Someone want stay with facebook, someone other want migrate. Let's allow them make choice.
What software we need? We don't need single software. We need a few applications with one username and password at all But if we talk about software like buddycloud of friendica we need: simple microblogging, simple profile pages, easy media shearing... For other functions like chatrooms or user directory we can use xmpp serwer...

apparently Red Matrix is in pretty good state, has diaspora bridge, and a lot of privacy options incuded.
