Aotearoa Food Resilience Alliance

MR Michael Reynolds Public Seen by 53

Trying a different approach here.....what would it look like for this collective of generous and amazing folks, doing all they can in the world, to form an alliance and cherish the work that is already happening, rather than get caught up on the charter itself?

I like it :) one could certainly inform the other, too. I for one feel unable to represent or advocate on behalf of anybody other than myself regarding food production in Aotearoa, and with a less prescriptive end-goal perhaps the conversation can get more traction and clarity, which will ultimately help with charter discussions down the line.

Hey Michael,
I think this is sensible, and who knows, when we have established shared vales and this actions, over time a charter may emerge more naturally.

I’d say we are already the emergence off an alliance / network. People were very keen to be included. Everybody here is doing amazing work in their communities. But I guess the next step remains, parallel to Angela and Gina’s discussion about food resilience strategy.

What is the action required by us all to better converse and connect and help each other?

Would be amazing to hear from others on this. How can this network flourish, from the flax/tomato/grass-roots into a movement?

One option would be to create social media portals for this work....that would allow people to share their mahi into that space....as well as a holding space for the charter to sit and be engaged with as & when people have capacity.
I have very quickly created a facebook page for it...I have not promoted it at all. I know not everyone is on FB...so this might not be the absolute ideal...but what is?

Sounds good, I’m not on Facebook, probably everybody else is. Anywhere that encourages connection and communication seems good to me though.

Amen, same here. I’m also not on Facebook but agree that any means of encouraging connection and communication is good, and FB seems an effective, accessible option for that

What could other alternatives be @Aaron McLean and @David McKenzie ?

As you say there’s no absolute ideal, but honestly if we’re talking open discussion and accessibility/visibility then Facebook is the best I can think of too! I (and other non-FBers) can still see the page, right? So in combo with this (more private) Loomio group, I think it’s great 👌🏼

Morena Koutou, hoping that lock down has treated people kindly. Ive seen some great thinking and korero regarding food security and resiliency come of it. And some positive initiatives and awareness raising. To share these wonderful ideas wider via something such as face book would be wonderful. I feel it would also be a great source of encouragement for projects. Looking forward to seeing the developments. Tessa

I've got a fake Facebook profile that I can use! Whatever works to keep the good stuff coming and us connecting :)

I have set this up...like I said I haven't promoted at all...but I am in the process of turning some of the parts of the charter into graphics that can be shared online...

It would be good to get people sharing their projects to this page and telling the stories we need to hear :)
