We can stop new sign ups temporarily and figure out ways to stop spammers in the meantime.
I think we need to stop new sign ups temporarily and figure out a way to stop spam sign ups permanently.

Yes. Have to handle spam. Else it will affect real users too.

Diaspora HQ suggested disabling http 1.0 stopped spam sign ups, we could try that.

After http 1.0 was disabled, the spam sign ups have stopped for now. We will have to now think about cleaning up existing spam accounts.

i think we could try setting captcha image_style to
almost_invisible? we've already setdistortionashigh.
