Informal Auckland Monthly Meetup - February

M Martyn Public Seen by 887

Due to the meeting going pretty well we decided that we are going to have a monthly meetup on the last Saturday of every month. Due to Esquires being closed due to construction we are holding it at the Coffee Club (Customs Street) http://www.thecoffeeclub.co.nz/store-locator/the-coffee-club-customs-street/

The time is yet to be decided but might be later in the day so potentially about 5pm, but will depend entirely on what time best suits the majority of people.

Also it's an informal meeting so feel free to wear whatever you like. Shout out to Daymond!

Hey @grantkeinzley what is a Meetup Captain? I've seen you mention them before but I have no idea what that is. I nominate @colinsmith to be the Auckland Captain if he's interested in it?

Also is that group for people based in Dunedin? Is there an official Internet Party Facebook group? I think @daymondgoulderhorobin is going to try and get hold of @fredlook to start up an Internet Party Auckland Facebook group. Would be good if we could get hold of a few more Auckland based IP paid up members, and even better if we there was an Exec member based in Auckland who could come down?

Hey Martyn. Meetup captains manage the meetups per town, city, suburb on behalf of the party and are assigned to their local or nearby candidate to co-ordinate with.

That group was Dunedin and they did good work back in 2014 hence having their own pages but rather than create area specific pages I have opened that and similar groups to reach out to all, so it is no longer area specific.

Ask that guy wanting to contact Fred to use the page I linked earlier for now rather than adding to the chaos of pages we already have. However, because Ak is big I could set that one up. But as for meetups the captains need to be listed in the meetups group page as being a captain is an official party position. So once I know who the captains for Ak will be (I am guessing by suburbs) then I'll build an Ak specific page.

Once we have announced the party's leader and the candidates are in place then yes there'll likely be a few candidates in the Auckland area and any/all of them will be attending Ak's meetups.

@grantkeinzley how did the Meetup Captains work in the last election? Whats the process for choosing them? Are any of them still around and willing to take up their position again? Also the second link you posted just brings me to a "Sorry, this content isn't available right now" page.

Also I have an unrelated question but who is on the Exec board? I know Fred is the Party Secretary but that's all I'm sure of at the moment.

@daymondgoulderhorobin check out the Facebook link Grant posted - https://www.facebook.com/groups/892711984107466/?ref=bookmarks

Grant I applied to join the Facebook group, let me know if you open a General and Auckland Facebook group as well.

@martyn
Some links to get started:
This one I just opened for all general non press release IP on FB content worth following: https://www.facebook.com/groups/InternetPartyElect/
The meetup captains group (my oops was still on secret group): https://www.facebook.com/groups/892711984107466/

How did they work. There was within the administration a meetup captains manager. His job was to manage the candidates and captains calendars, determine best locations and times for meetups when they could be tied in with other activities, co-ordinate funding, party marketing products, fliers and brochures to both the candidates and the captains so all were synced in to the bigger plan. Was quite amazing actually.

Choosing the captains: A volunteer call went out, those that applied had a quick interview, and all good became captains.

Yes many are still around and from those that I am connected with their interest to do again is still strong.

I probably shouldn't name the execs that should be a @fredlook thing to do. Suffice to say there is a handful of us. Fred, Me, and Kim, ones you already know.

Yes as soon as we have one captain named for Ak I'll start that FB Group and post the link on the first link above group page.

Then I'll ask the exec to table your name as captain. What area of Auckland or all of?

Daymond Goulder-Horobin Sun 29 Jan 2017 6:10AM

Agreed, Colin Smith has pretty much been the De-facto Meetup Captain in the Auckland Area up until this point since he's organized all of the meetings around there up until now.
