Embargo

VV Victor Venema Public Seen by 374

A paper of mine was just accepted for a journal that has a 12-month post-print embargo. Would it be a useful feature if one could upload a manuscript that is published automatically when the embargo period is over?

When I previously uploaded manuscripts, I did not notice such an option, so I presume it does not exist yet, but maybe I was also not paying attention.

I very much like this idea! Would remove one step for newcomers to the preprint arena!

....although I should say that any results of a public vote undertaken here on Loomio will not be taken forward directly to COS, but instead to the Advisory Board for further consideration. This is the same as discussed earlier this year for moderation, commenting, etc.

Reminder that the poll is closing in one day. The poll on whether the EarthArXiv base would like to be able to upload a manuscript that is published automatically when the embargo period is over.

The poll is closed. We did not have much participation, but those that did vote overwhelmingly supported it: 11 agree, 1 abstains.

Chris, could you communicate this suggestion to the Advisory Board?

Thanks Victor,

All: I think this is sensible and pretty straightforward. Are we in agreement that we can take this forward as a proposal to COS? If I don’t hear any dissenting voices in the next day or so, I’ll
contact them.

Thanks,

Chris
