Should Loomio have an option to show a nickname instead of the user's full name?

Create a field "nickname" and a drop-down button in options to choose if members want to show their real name or the nickname.

Because some members they don't want to show their real name public because maybe have problem, i think we must give them that choice to choose what they want.
People can already set their username to whatever they like, so I'm not sure that it would be worth adding complexity through another feature
This is not necessary as they can already change their "Full Name" in settings to anything they like. This field should probably be called differently then...
As long as Loomio are not enforcing a FB style, use your "real" name policy, people already have the freedom to use whatever name they want. Seems a bit pointless coding a feature for it.
I think it is the discussion admin who decides, not the user.
Another options is for the discussion admin to decide if anonymity is allowed or not. For example, in a corporate setting, the management may want to ONLY anonymity to get true an honest opinion from their staff. Technically we have 3 options: 'real names only', 'anonymity only', 'user decides'. I think the third option does not give a level playing field as people who reveal their true names might feel exposed and subject to abuse.
Why i said that is because our group is pirate party of Hellas and in Greece (Hellas is another name for Greece), we have problem with our spy organization service and members will get in trouble because they are members and participate.
And with "full name" field as it is now, they get confused and they put their full name.
Hi Chris, the reasoning behind labeling the field 'full name' was that it's helpful for most groups on Loomio for people to use their actual names, so it's a gentle encouragement. I'd hope that groups/users with privacy concerns would feel free to enter in whatever nickname they like. Maybe there's some clearer messaging we could put around this?
In any case, users can edit their username at any time under 'user settings', so maybe pointing this out to any of your users who have privacy concerns would be helpful.
@benjaminknightloom as it said previously also the field full name can change to display name... Unfortunately it is confused to some people to say that you have to put your full name... Personal I don't care. But it must be somehow different so anyone can understand it. Also I would prefer all members to have their full name, but I can't change the fear of the other people.
Maybe an easy "psycological" could be to rename "Full Name" in the settings to "Display Name" or something else along those lines?
