Wiki of the commons transition

Hello Remi, I thought we had corresponded about this last week? I may be wrong though, as I was traveling.

The wiki’s policies are linked to in the landing page/right column under “Welcome to the Commons Transition Wiki”. These are explained in the Contribute page. We are currently revamping the wiki to incorporate semantic wiki, and to be mobile responsive, and other changes having to do with content organization, etc. Those are being discussed on the CT wiki’s own Loomio group although progress is very slow.

Who can add content ?

Anyone with good mediawiki skills (learning resources are linked to from the “Contribute” page mentioned above). Organizational skills and English proficiency are also important. As we’re reconfiguring the wiki, we’re presently more concentrated on that work than in adding new content.

Who are the administrator ?

There are more admins, but I’m the only currently active one.

What is the objective(s) of this ressource ?

It says on the tin. From the front page:

The Commons Transition Wiki is a database for policy papers and proposals related to Commons Transition. The Commons Transition Platform is an independent and open global policy making platform on Commons Transition Plans. The Commons Transition Wiki acts as an indexed repository of material on transitioning societies at all levels towards a commons orientation, both in the field of shared knowledge pools and material production.

This wiki has always been about policies, and that will always remain an essential focus, but we are now expanding it to also include the P2P Foundation’s other work streams (including Open Cooperativism and Distributed Manufacturing). Within these we also want to catalogue the variety of operational Commons worldwide, as well as regenerative practises. If the answer of the previous question is "no" I don't see the boundaries clearly between P2P and commons transition wiki. E.g if I want to add a common to inform people it exists (and how it works and so on), where should I put it ? If I understood well it would be part of the commons transition wiki.

The markdown link is malformed. The trailing ")" needs to be part of the URL.

FYI (everyone) It's best practice to create links using words that describe what is linked to, rather than creating a link with the word "here". This helps search engines associate web pages with keywords more effectively, and improves the search engine results for the pages you link to.

No, they are two separate, but interrelated Wikis. In fact, as starting with the CT Wiki we want to use semantic wiki to tie it to the Remix the Commons wiki and have a more diverse, resilient network. Michel explained the differences above:

In short. The P2PF Wiki is much broader, pluralistic and far ranging. The CT Wiki is smaller and more specifically focused on Transition proposals in politics, culture, labor, production and ecology.

Yes, @ellenfriedman created a template for cataloguing commons we intend to use. But, as we're still in the process of updating the software and categorisation protocols it's best to list these and not add them to the Commons Transition Wiki until that work is done (adding new material now will create extra work later). For now it makes total sense to add them to main P2PF wiki, but check that there are no prior existing entries.

I've noticed that Loomio struggles to render links when the URL has () brackets in it. One work-around is to use a link shortener, and use the shortened link on Loomio. The other option is to not use the markdown syntax, and just post the full URL as text.

there is no automatic connection between the two wiki's, and to my understanding, I may be wrong, the CT wiki is very rarely updated, and with a substantially smaller audience, and position in search engines,

so it depends, if you want to reach the hardcore of CT enthusiasts, CT is good; if you want to reach a more broader public, the p2pfoundation wiki is better,

ideally, adding it to both is best, but I understand that is a hassle,
