I think it will help taking away the power from a single person.

It should. Otherwise I will have to take the whole responsibility of the name and domain name.
But if majority disagree with this, there must be a document saying that I'm holding the domain just for the sake of the community.

I think it will help taking away the power from a single person. But I'm willing to go with the consensus.

Change the domain whois information to SMC. currently sooraj holds the domain username and password. mention this info on website.

@danialjose , fair enough. Like Sooraj said, there has to be a public pledge (sending a mail to the list would suffice I think) that whoever holding the domain is just a custodian and not owner of the community. We can link to that pledge from our site for reference. Transparency is critical in any community, otherwise people in power will misuse it.

I don't see why ILUGCochin can't have independent existence. For the misuse of power issue, we can form a team for managing the mailing list and other web resources. So that no one person holds all the strings. Also, as said in above comments, we can state it clearly in our website (and mailing list) that being the custodian of these resources gives responsibility, not authority.

Hi All,
Only 2 days left for closing the poll, I am exited to see democratic ILUGCOHIN.ORG website. I prefer a word-press theme.
Please share your views about ilugcochin.org website.
In my opinion we also need to include a page about ilug-cochin.org. After two weeks there is no updates on the new policies and nothing changed so far.
We can list the all problems and false promises.

I repeat:-

But if majority disagree with this, there must be a document saying that I’m holding the domain just for the sake of the community.
It is just ensure that this is not a monopolist decision.
So one must share the outcome in the list, but just four of us can’t make the final decision.

It seems no one like to comment on your idea, in my opinion ILUG Cochin should be independent from any trust or organization.
Other lugs in India are also registered under individual names like
ilugc.in
ilug-tvm.org
www.plug.org.in
glug-bom.org
Sooraj, if you are afraid of responsibility transfer the domain to someone else.
