Move to a self hosted instance of loomio from loomio.org

PP Pirate Praveen Public Seen by 47

We wanted to move to a self hosted instance of loomio software from our current free hosting provided by loomio.org. Some of the features like creating more sub groups are already disabled on free hosting and we don't know how long they will continue to offer the free hosting option. Now FSCI (https://fsci.in) has setup an instance of loomio. @Bady and @Akhil worked on this effort and we can move to this instance soon. We can export all the data (discussions and attachments etc) and import to the new instance and the only visible change will be a change in the url (we want to keep the url of the new instance secret to avoid any conflicts during the import).

You can see https://www.loomio.org/d/sxGZeEYP/contact-email-address for more context.

This is important for more control over our data and removing limitations of current free hosting plan

Retaining control over critical infrastructure like discussion platform is good.

There is one thing which seems to be missing in loomio though or dunno, loomio.org doesn't seem to be remember passwords. I am thinking something on the lines of https://stackoverflow.com/questions/549/the-definitive-guide-to-form-based-website-authentication/477578#477578 . I dunno if loomio infrastructure has this, seems the only bug/ticket I could find on this was https://github.com/loomio/loomio/issues/5737 . From what I could see and gather loomio sends tokens in an e-mail which could be easily taken via an MITM.

There is this https://stackoverflow.com/questions/549/the-definitive-guide-to-form-based-website-authentication/477578#477578 which does give some ideas and a bit of indepth coverage/idea which covers the basics. I fail to understand not having the username/password being saved by browser . There is obviously something missing from the loomio.org site or they may have their own ideas which they presented somewhere but I am unable to find it. If somebody finds something on that, feel free to mail it to me. There doesn't seem to be any kind of pm (private message) box so one could send message to one and the other and help each other out.

I log in to loomio with email and password saved in my browser.
