Loomio

Having trouble to install development version of Loomio

Comrade Senya PublicSeen by 330

I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 with postgresql 9.5, node v4.4.5 and ruby 2.3.1.

I'm following this guide.

However, when I run cd angular && gulp compile the command fails with error. The command output is here. Can anybody help me to solve it please?

Can you verify that npm install works? This looks like a problem with the node version; try 4.2.6, which is the officially supported version.

Comrade Senya

node is installed with n.

I've tried version 4.2.6. When I run npm install within angular
directory, I get the following output:

npm WARN optional Skipping failed optional dependency /chokidar/fsevents:
npm WARN notsup Not compatible with your operating system or
architecture: fsevents@1.0.14
npm WARN angular-gravatar@0.2.4 requires a peer of grunt-cli@0.1.13 but
none was installed.

gulp compile output don't change.

This is because of NPM3 which uses shallow paths, I ran into the same thing and updated the path in our fork. Another option would be to switch back to NPM2, which is (unfortunately?) still the default last time I looked.

Comrade Senya

I had NPM 2.14.12 installed. After I saw your comment I upgaded NPM to
version to 3.10.5. Running gulp compile after the upgrade gives the
same result.

Hmm not sure why you're running into the error with NPM2, did you maybe run npm dedupe at some point? If I remember correctly that command was already there in earlier versions, and with v3 it just became the default behaviour.

Note that you also have to remove the node_modules folder after switching the NPM version, so if you downgrade back to NPM 2, remove the folder, and run npm install again, I think it should work.

Comrade Senya

I just applied your patch for now and it helped. Thanks for help.
