Loomio

Loomio without cloud (attachments)

How to setup loomio without cloud storage (amazon s3)? I would like to store attachments on local machine.

Hi @marekhudik,

This is a great quesiton. One of our core values is making Loomio easy to run stand alone, but we're not quite there yet.

There is two ways to approach this, either use one of the open source s3 interface clones that are available, or change the attachment code to support a normal file upload backend.

This is something we'll address as we focus on making loomio easy to install with a docker file, but, right now I'm sorry to say we don't have a super clear answer for you.

Thanks @robertguthrie
I would like to use local installation for s3. Could you suggest where I should change S3 host configuration, so loomio will connect to localhost instead of amazon server?

i configured paperclip to work locally ( maybe i could remove the host to avoid the local_root dirty fix)

config.paperclip_defaults = {
:storage => :fog,
:fog_credentials => {
:provider => 'Local',
:local_root => "#{Rails.root}/public/images/localhost"
},
:fog_directory => '',
:fog_host => 'localhost'
}

but an opensource alternative of Amazon s3 could be cool

@edo That will work for profile images, but I think the attachment system is rather s3 specific. Would be amazingly awesome to generalise it.

i just tryed the profile image , this morning i'll try the attachment system
