Budgeting Discussion

MC Matthew Cropp Public Seen by 28

I finally got around to downloading the .csv from OpenCollecitve and making a chart of month-by-month monthly recurring contributions through February.

My spreadsheet-fu is not great, so I only played with the numbers for monthly donors, so annual donors (whose net contributions were $924.23 in this period) are not reflected in the graph.

I'll be curious to see if March moves higher with the wave of new folks now that onboarding is fixed.

This also got me thinking that, now that it seems like we have a good sense of the "floor" of our budget, we should start thinking about how to deploy some of our aggregated resources to improve our work and benefit our members, and well as set goals for things to do as we hit specific financial milestones.

For process, let's start with a conversation in this thread, and then aim to schedule a synchronous call in the coming month or two.

Seems reasonable to me.

Great idea. I think this should go through the open collective process which is good for transparency and accountability.

Sounds good.

Would appreciate if someone would lay out for a non-tech person like me what the updates would mean in practice for users, would it mean more or improved features for example?

Not against this in principle, but I don't know what the benefits are vs risks, nor how to estimate the costs (especially since this job would presumably need to be repeated, potentially many times a year). Suggest proposals should include this info.

This is something of an experiment vis a vis how to structure incentivizing necessary work for our co-op, and I'm curious to see what we learn and how we build on that knowledge.

Upgrade Loomio Subscription to $149/yr 500 user plan Closed Thu 18 Jul 2019 2:03PM

Loomio is rolling out a new pricing structure on the 15th, with a discounted subscription for collectives and member-supported organizations of $149/year for up to 500 users. We're currently grandfathered in on a $5/month plan that is over its user cap, but they generously let us bump up to 300 a few months ago on a temporary basis, but we should get on a permanent basis with the new terms.

So, I propose that social.coop upgrade to the 500 user plan at the collective and member-supported organization discounted price of $149/year, which is an $89 increase over our current annual expenditure.
