Financial Transparency- opening up the Jeder Financial Reports to the membership

JE Jason Emmins Public Seen by 32

We discussed the idea of opening the Jeder Institute financial reports to our members. The Bored have been wanting to do this for sometime but have never got there.

The Bored receive a monthly financial report from TCOB that includes all relevant financial reporting (i.e. Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss, Admin Class Monitoring, trends and ratio's etc).

A few polls will follow to allow us to understand what would be helpful for you.

Thanks to everyone that contributed to this poll. I have shared the individual outcomes with you all and will present this to the Dollars Jedi.

A summary of what will be presented:

  • 55% of members who voted would like a financial report presented to the Dollars Jedi (with 44% indicating their preference was the bored).

  • 78% of members who voted would like a summary report (with 21% indicating a full report).

  • 52% of members who voted would like a 6 monthly report presented (with 30% indicating quarterly, 8% monthly and 8% annually).

  • We will present last years audited financial report once it is returned from the Financial Auditor (hopefully within the next few weeks) and then a snap shot report each 6 months (January and July each year to incorporate into the financial year reporting).

If you have any questions, please let post them here or attend the next Dollars Jedi (scheduled for the 18th November at 5pm AEDST).

I feel that I think it is fine to raise issues in BOTH areas, and I certainly would from if I viewed it as from the Bored perspective...LOL.....elsewise, I am fine if it goes through the Dollars Jedi...it might be resolved/answered at this level nonetheless...

Thanks to everyone that voted (29%).

The results were 55% to be presented at the Dollars Jedi and 44% to be presented to the bored. From these results, it indicates the preference is to present the Financial Summary to the Dollars Jedi.

I will take these results back to the Dollars Jedi.

Feedback and asking questions is important to us as it creates transparency and accountability. We have considered two options of inviting members to contribute and ask questions regarding our financial records, being the Bored or Dollars Jedi (or a separate Jedlett).

The Bored meet fortnightly (at this point) and have always extended an open invitation to our members to join if they want. One fortnight we focus on "the business" and the other fortnight we have IT/TCOB join to present their reports/feedback.

The Dollars Jedi meets on a Monthly Basis and any member can join the Dollars Jedi.

Quarterly I think is good

I actually think that both would be best - a snap shot for everyone to have a quick look and the full report available if anyone wants to have a closer look or gain a fuller picture.
