@mention anyone you are in a group with in any other group
This would be the ideal shortcut for inviting them, instead of digging out their email address...
But perhaps only if they have access to that group? It would be annoying to get notifications about a post your can't see.
Also, it users who are in the current group should float to the top of the autocomplete, and users in the current discussion should float above that.
@mention could be:
- always a link to that person's profile
- an invite to someone you know from all groups to join the current discussion or "request to join" if not public
- "craftable" from an autocomplete of their "presentation" name
@naught101 -> actually that is the point of the suggestion. Getting more people involved in the discussion EVEN if they don't have access to that group.
These cards in the backlog are related...
We've talked about a "trello style" invite system, where if you put in someone's name or email and they are already a user, their profile pops up. There are some privacy concerns there obviously.
If the group is private, and the mentioner is not a moderator, then an @mention of a non-member should open a request to the moderator like:
"@denjello requested inviting @alanna to the Loomio Community group."
If the group is private and the mentioner is a moderator, then an @mention of a non-member invites the mentioned, which they naturally must confirm.
[off-topic][funny][geekjoke][unmention]
By the way, I just discovered that my pull-request allows you to @mention someone who is not in the group. Although it doesn't send a notification of the mention, it does bring you to the profile page of the user.
I really like this!
And it might be part of the discussion on markdown, but I think it would be cool if one could @mention people in the context panels, proposals, voting statement, decision outcomes... everywhere!
