Social Enterprise in Schools

AG Anna Guenther Public Seen by 27

Would be great to have a discussion about getting social enterprise into schools (primary, secondary and tertiary). Including:

  • what is happening already in NZ
  • what is happening overseas
  • what do we want to do?
  • who wants to do it?

This is a great article about UnLtd's partnership with universities in the UK to promote and support social entrepreneurship: http://unltd.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/Unlocking-the-Potential-Hefce-UnLtd-Final-Report-June-11.pdf

Anna, you should connct with Sophie Rule at MSD in youth development who is writing a brief for Minister Kaye (I drafted the social enterprise piece) on 3 priorities: civic engagement, community service and social enterprise. She is also Vice Chair for education. Stefan Weir is M. Kaye assistant [email protected]. The Minister doesn't have any background in SE but seems curious...

Great point @mjkaplan - I will look into and see if I can connect with Sophie about this! Also catching up with YES tonight, so will bring it up there too.

Great to hear the Minister is interested in this. Next week, we will be getting all the YES annual reports in so will be interested to see how many have put themselves forward to the social enterprise award. Anna - let us know when you speak to Sophie. We will make contact with our MYD contacts to see what they know.

Hey @terryshubkin - happy for you to take the lead on this if you'd like? It would be great to see your annual report data too :)

On a side note - am going down to Dunedin again in October to talk at Otago Uni's course on Social Entrepreneurship. So any #'s that I can share on what YES is seeking in the socent space would be great for that!
