Give us a "dislike" functionality
While everyone can "like" a posting, no one can "dislike" it. This is a bit sad. How to react to, let's say, "news: 100 people died"? I feel a bit worried about "liking" it as I would on Facebook.
I know this has been discussed in the bugtracker for a long time, but the community is still waiting for a solution. I can't see anything that would decline a "dislike" item (except "we're all in a happy wonderland here" which might fit a kindergarten but not a social network). :-)
Also, as Facebook doesn't have Dislike, a lot of malware has evolved, promising to add that but spying users instead. Maybe another good reason to include a Dislike link by default.

We don't need dislike. No one is helped if users hit "dislike" - they only feel bad. If someone does not like a post, they should ignore it. If the content is to be disliked, write a comment saying so.

Yes, sometimes the an dislike button would make sense (news: 100 people died), but I think in the end the positive usefulness is very small.

i think it is generally understood that the "like" in diaspora does not necessarily indicate that you are "happy" about the content, so we don't need a dislike :)

Going in this direction we'd need to enable voting against both paid and upaid trolls ganging up on the opposite sides by being able to vote "middle" or "yellow"

As some have said: not commenting when you like something probably won't make anyone feel bad, disliking certainly might. Now I'm pining for pinning ;)

If someone doesn't like a post, they should just ignore it. Or if they are so desperate show their dislike, they should probably do that through a post -"Hey world, check out this post. I dislike it coz of so and so reasons".

we're not up-/downvoting content, we are discussing. "dislike" strikes me as rude and not constructive in that context
