Outreach

Last night I dreamt we got 1000 facebook page likes and 500 twitter followers by 1st March 2013. LIKE,SHARE, FOLLOW. Lets make my dream come true!* (Greta)
I think this is a great idea, Greta!
In January I did a small outreach campaign with my contacts - I set it up to go out before my most recent contribution. This gave me a great hook at the end of the email.
Let's make Greta's dream come true! Get your email contacts together and ask them to "like" the page! If anyone needs a template let me know, I would be more than happy to share what I sent out.
Also - I found it was much more effective to send out personal emails to everyone I made a template. Then added "Hi NAME OF FRIEND" as the greeting. And I sent them out individually, rather than a mass blast. It's tedious, but worth it. Then I followed up with inviting them to like the page via FB.

Hi greta - Yep, the personal fb invites is def the next step for those who didn't "like"!
And BTW it was AWESOME with the personal emails - because lots of people responded with things like - great to hear from you, Nicole! Other people who don't have FB asked me to send them a link to the article once I finished (oops, guess I should do that today)
Way to go Greta! 1000 likes here we come!

its back. better not to publicise our downage I think. It makes people nervous. I think.... I like the idea of pirates stealing it. there is some good irony in that.

thanks! I actually borrowed the vision from Barnaby but I had to make it mine for the cheese to work
I sent emails to my friends and 15 new friend likes so far and counting.
Its funny you should mention the personal email thing as the other day I mentioned doing the same thing at my own work to Barnaby. It really works in getting an answer/action.
As an extension of that. Maybe it would be worth facebooking private messages to friends individually asking them to like. For me, it will also be a good reason for me to catch up with friends I haven't been in touch with for a while! i'll try and get onto that in the next week.
If I was really proactive, or artisitic I would make a poster with me looking wistfully in the distance hoping my dream would come true.
