Here's a new image, found by Jo - she asks if it's too Rustic

I like the wooden posts but the wooden shingles are more used in the US than in NZ aren't they? So a corrugated roof is more appropriate.

Actually would this work for the Village sign? Remove the roof, keep the wooden board as it's a nice shape and either carve the text or use the laser-cut steel we saw last night.

I don't mind rustic but think that enlarging this to the size for the bus shelter (assuming it would be a little bigger than this!) might not work quite as well. Also think that the cost of shingles like this might be more both in terms of initial outlay and ongoing maintenance.
Re the village sign, I still have a preference for a metal structure that is a) less likely to be a target for potential arsonists!! (maybe I am paranoid) and b) easier to clean if graffiti-ed (definitely paranoid!!!!)

Before we get too carried away with designs etc - shouldn't we confirm with the appropriate agencies whether we can have a sign in our chosen location - and what, if any, criteria regarding size height etc....
