Let’s think bigger and do a large post card mailing

PK Paul Krush Public Seen by 263

Let’s think bigger and do a large post card mailing. I will pay for most of it and in return I want that front office.

I need fox.build to exist as vibrant business & manufacturing friendly makerspace and I know you guys (and gals) more or less feel the same.

We need a lot more members and resources to get into a positive feedback loop to make this happen.

I propose we send post cards to local small manufacturing companies advertising who we are and asking for memberships, tools, and resources.

I will buy the mailing list, pay for the standard mailing, and handing the mailing automation to create the PDF for printing. I am asking fox.build / other members to lay it and print it. Not sure about color, or getting a printer, or having it printed…

The list and the mailing will cost around $2000. In return I want to use that office up front for the next year.

I am suggesting post cards because there is no labor involved in preparing the envelope or tabbing a flyer.

Something like 3 large format letter sized postcard mailings to 2000 small manufacturing companies 10 miles around northern West Chicago. 6000 post cards total. Say starting on April 15th, May 15th, and June 15th.

I think it might be wise to only mail 500 a week so we can spread it out over time and make adjustments to the layout as needed.

Having 501(c) (3) would allow us to increase from 6000 to 9000 post cards.

Why small manufacturing companies? I’m paying for it and this is what I want. I will be doing a mailing campaign myself using the same list.

Go back to http://rev3dupage.com/ and check out the about pages. That’s my dream and we can pretty much do that. Not as a government run manufacturing innovation center but a high-tech business & open source friendly makerspace managed as a collective on a shoe string budget.

Of course there are a lot of unanswered questions here.

I am open to suggestions or other proposals.

I don’t have much time right now to work on this, but I will in a few weeks.

Thanks,

Paul Krush

Paul, I love the way you think. Lets take this offline for a bigger conversation when you get back home.

I always heard mass mailings were pretty ineffective. Maybe we should ping local ham radio operators, they're Maker types anyway.
