This is what I wrote about in on the email list. Forgive may amateur approach.

For the record:
"Currently, ~ 17% of Greeks supports or accepts the #grexit scenario.
Taking it conservatively, we talk about 1 million of people.

Politically, the conflict between Greece and "powers that be" is gaining
momentum. People around me strive for some way to have a say, make a
difference, even symbolically.

I believe it is the best moment possible to design and implement a
cryptocurrency (eDrahma), in a way of prefiguration of #grexit. If thee
scenario hppens, it may seamlessly integrate with the new/old state
money (or not). If it doesn't, it will be fun, profit and a learning
situation for sure.

There is a small group here in Greece, interested in pushing the
project, but we lack a cryptocurrency expert.

To perform such a project, we need somebody capable to design a new
cryptocurrency, having in mind not only technical, but also economic
aspect of it. If there is anybody interested and qualified enough,
please let me know. The opportunity window just opened. "

"The key point is that I do not see eDrahma as a government currency.
Nowadays, the Greek government, with all its virtues, sticks with the
idea of Euro. The goal of eDrahma is mainly to provide #grexit
supporters a simple and practical way to present their views. Instead of
waving flags or wearing pins, they would have a "social" eDrahma,
convertible from/to other currencies, possible to use within the social
economy circulation. Later, wheen/if the government decides to release
state-backed Drahma, there will be a moment to decide how to set up a
relationship between them.

We may, of course, think of eDrahma solely as a trinket, a political
gadget. But it is an opporunity to provide Greek society with their own
social economy serving currency. Drahma to the people!

BTW, current Greek Minister of Finance, Yanis Varoufakis, wrote couple
posts on his blog, discussing various aspects of cryptocurrencies (not a
big fan of BTC, really) -- if we go ahead with that, it would be
sensible to analyse his position and follow his recommendations. I guess.

Final word on support: having a million of people supportng the idea,
having good design and having few activists here to spread the word (and
eDrahmas), I am pretty optimistic. If nothing else, it is going to be fun."

Now, having pasted that, let me stress out that during the initial discussion my thinking changed into -- hopefully -- more serious and constructive. See the thread https://www.loomio.org/d/iLF3Bgz6/kick-off
