Code of Conduct "Additional Values"
We had the call to review the survey that was sent around a little while back to collect the additional values beyond those articulated by the International Co-operative Alliance's Statement on the Co-operative Identity, and the next step for our Code of Conduct development process is to collect social.coop member input on prioritizing those values.
Once we have that input, the Policies/Moderation Working Group will reconvene for another call to:
- Develop working definitions of the prioritized values.
- Review the "Goals and Aspirations" survey responses.
- Plan the work of drafting the Code of Conduct document.
Additional Social.Coop Values

Thanks to everyone who contributed; this was a very interesting and revealing exercise. My next step will be to start a thread in the Policies / Moderation Working Group to schedule a call and, in the meantime, to start discussion of the outcomes.
If you would like to follow this thread further and contribute to the development of our, please join the subgroup! The next action on the part of the general membership will be to review and provide feedback on an initial draft of the CoC...
As part of our Code of Conduct development process, we recently polled the membership asking for suggestions for additional values to include beyond those articulated by the ICA's Statement on the Co-operative Identity.
The Policies/Moderation Working Group reviewed the responses and compiled the following list of ten suggestions, which we are now asking for member input in prioritizing via a dot vote in which each member has 5 dots to allocate as they please. If you would like to review the spreadsheet with the survey responses for additional context of the suggestions, it is accessible here. Responses to this poll will be anonymous.
Once we have the results of the dot vote, the Working Group will convene another call to move the CoC process to the next step in the road-map.

This is a great definition, thank you for posting this!
A word in defense of our least popular value ;-)
The idea of sovereignty of labor, which comes from the Mondragon basic values adopted in 1986, is that labor -- human productive activity -- should be "sovereign" meaning having and exercising power over capital. Labor is understood broadly, not just in the narrow sense of a "factor of production", and not only in the sense of "labor productive of value" (as in capitalism), but in the broadest and deepest sense. For platforms that means that, for example, the labor of users of social.coop: creating and maintaining dialogue, sharing ideas and information, collaborating, mutual support and friendship, community building all come before the needs of capital. Finally, sovereignty of labor is a project, a task, that requires organizing and movement building.
