Future Party Alliance

PX Peter Xing Public Seen by 160

If we don't get enough vote pledges on the TPAU website, should we direct the vote pledges to the Future Party and join their party, with Transhumanism as a core principle for influencing policy decisions?

I don't see why not...

As part of the alliance with the Future Party, they are asking if we can agree to help with their re-registration next month and say we are members of the Future Party if the AEC calls up, but for the purposes of the next election in 18 months we can still register our own party under TPAU based on the vote pledges on our transhumanism.com.au website.

What do you guys think of this approach? Given we are not yet a registered party, it may be beneficial to leverage their infrastructure prior to the next election and learn about the processes of a registered party, including campaigning and policy making. At the same time we can influence their policy decisions during that time.

With what Stefan said. I think I can agree on those terms.

I can't decide if this will be a good option or not.

I think it's important for parties with similar ideals to pool resources. Why try and compete when we are looking for the same sort of change?

Here is the memorandum of understanding drafted by the Future Party for TPAU. Note at the bottom it reads:

"Continuation of Transhumanist Party activity

The Future Party believes that the Transhumanist website, Facebook and social gatherings should continue. We believe that these activities hold their own value in addition to the Future Party’s registration and activities. Additionally continuing these operations will give members of the transhumanist party the flexibility to start their own political party in the future.

While this agreement is in order, there may be a need to change the Transhumanist Party name to something like Transhumanists Australia in order to prevent administrative confusion. The Transhumanist Party may at any point change their name back."

As long as we can still register, I'm for it, but I don't see how people can belong to two political party registrations. I didn't think that was allowed?

Per the memorandum of understanding, it says "If, in the future, the Transhumanist Party decides to register as a political party, all members who join the Transhumanist Party must inform the Future Party immediately that they intend to resign."
