Hi, my name is Mix. I'm based in Wellington, New Zealand. I used to be a high school teacher, but now I'm a hippy geek who helps build digitial and cultural technology to empower communities.
I've helped build Loomio and currently coordinate the volunteer translators. (check out all the languages!)

Hi,

My name is Fergal, have worked in various low decile schools in Ireland, and have been working in a large mainstream Decile 8 in Wellington. I've been involved in a research project for the past three years thinking about what education is, should be and how to change it, very keen on empowering students and teachers, and I'm thinking a functioning digital network could be a big step in that direction.

Kia ora,

I'm Simone. Wellington based as well, I'm studying education at Vic Uni. I work as a gardener and I play as an acrobat.

Curiousity brought me here, wanting to learn as much as I can about democratic and progressive education. I'm not satisfied with the current system, and am looking for alternatives and ways of change and transformation. I'm also at a cross-roads in my life, having almost finished my degree and deciding which direction to head in next - research, teaching, or something else entirely. But what I'm really interested in is how we can transform mainstream education to be more holistic, democratic, and connected to our communities' needs.

@fergal - Would be interested in hearing more about your research!

Hi, I'm Tina.
So far in my life, I have discovered that I am a musician, dancer, artist, poet, mathematician and communicator. While exploring Nelson, my friend Jesse helped me begin to see that I am also a scientist. This is my passion: to create spaces that invite others discover that they... that we all... are musicians, artists, dancers, poets, etc. etc. etc.
I first came to Pine Community School in Brisbane, Australia, as a parent, where my ideas about childhood, parenting, community, learning, and teaching (I have a highschool teaching degree) have all been found to be inadequate, and so the learning has begun. That was 14 years ago and now my children have all moved on and I remain, still learning and attempting to be authentic in the space as teacher and co-learner. IDEC 2015 has been affirming and inspiring for me!
