I think we should also have a conversation about consent RE photos. Upon looking at some of those albums and seeing myself there, in a public archive and now owned by Google and with all the things that entails, I feel quite uneasy about the whole thing. We should create a consent register for all of us to indicate to which degree we are comfortable being represented externally.

you’re right. In my projects we always had to keep a record of consent prior use in mainstream media. Bit of a hassle after the event though. For now how about we delete any of @pospi and when it comes to public ELF Communications we only publish images after obtaining written consent from people in photos. This “policy” should be referenced in the Communications Plan.

Sam should publish a journal of ELF experiences to connect with other community builders & learn from them Closed Tue 12 Feb 2019 3:01AM

By agreeing to this you are implicitly agreeing to the circulation of all material in the ELF Google Drive (including transcripts of meeting minutes), public Loomio groups, photo albums and Trello boards. Further, you agree to an ongoing public dialogue regarding matters in our community.

Without explicit consent from those referenced in the journal or editorial input I think it’s problematic for one person to speak on behalf of the group The last journal contained personal reflections and some inaccuracies but since it was not meant to be representative of the group I don’t have a problem with it. But a journal representing the group coming from one perspective only I do have a problem with

I think it would be appropriate for all willing members to contribute to a similar group project - a collection of personal stories. I have disagreed with Sam being the only person journaling on behalf of the entire community as I don’t feel that one person can accurately represent the community experience. There are as many sources of truth as there are members for such a sub project.

I think it is a good idea in theory, but before moving towards it we need to sort out a whole bunch of rules on it and other communication elf issues

Should be a group effort or group edited, I believe there are higher priority tasks before this.

One must always obtain the explicit consent of another before mentioning their name in public documents or writing Closed Tue 12 Feb 2019 3:01AM

As a rule, any discussion of ELF happenings should be seen as acceptable provided others in the group are not named. If you wish to include the names of others in any publicly published material you should always obtain their consent before doing so.
