New feature: Closed threads
We've had a lot of feedback recently that coordinators would like a way to clean up their page, and declutter from old conversations that may be out of date or irrelevant. So, we've just introduced the concept of 'closing' a thread (now available from the thread page dropdown)
Closed threads will appear with a prominent 'Closed' tag, and will no longer appear in the threads list for the group by default, or the dashboard of anyone who has access to it. Instead, you'll be able to click on 'Closed Threads' on the group page, to view previously closed threads.
Closed threads may still be commented on, reacted to, and interacted with in any way you would a normal thread, but they're a bit less visible and prominently labelled as 'this discussion has already happened' :)
Soon, we'll encourage thread closers to provide an 'outcome' of the discussion, which should be an actionable description of what was discussed and concluded. We'll also introduce the ability for coordinators to 'lock' threads, which will prevent further discussion until the thread is unlocked. Stay tuned, and let us know what you think!
I wonder about a warning when people add new activity to a closed thread, to let them know it might not be seen by other members, and do you want to re open?
Handy feature. One small comment. I noticed that if I view threads in a parent group I can see all of the open threads in the sub-groups. However I don't have the option to view the closed threads in those sub-groups. There is no button to click to see them. I have to go to the specific sub-group to see the option to view it's closed threads.
great featured, but how/where can I see closed threads? thanks.
I tested this feature in my groups. It is nice.
However, the closed threads are present in the "Yesterday on Loomio" e-mail the day after, with empty content. They should be either marked as "closed" in the e-mail or not be notified to group members at all.
